Favourite Directors?

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

    Favourite Directors?
So who's yours? Make a top 5 if you wish. Mine are interchangeable but at the moment, in no particular order my top 5 are:

    1. Steven Soderbergh
    2. Lynne Ramsay
    3. Quentin Tarantino
    4. Wes Anderson
    5. David Lynch

I also love the Coen brothers, but I still can't forgive them for "Burn after reading" and I wasn't too keen on "True Grit" either.

Tim Burton has got to be up there somewhere.. James Cameron comes out with decent stuff as well, gets himself noticed in the least

Edit: how could I forget M. Night Shyamalan !!

I quite like Burton. Loved Sixth Sense, but other than that don't really rate Shyamalan. I'm not a Cameron fan.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Sergio Leone - one of the greatest directors ever.

Spielberg, Ford Coppola, Kubrick, Scorsese and Hitchcock are other great directors.

For me it begins and ends with Akira Kurosawa. His attention to detail is mindblowing. Here's a short from one of his last films, Dreams, which stars Martin Scorsese himself as Vincent van Gogh.
