Re: New, planning on going to edge hillMust admit i went to the open day last year before i applied and its fantastic. The staff are helpful, friendly and i even had help from a lady in admissions with my personnal statement as she gave me her email address to email it to her before i applied. Going again today on my own (i took my children last time) so can have another look around in more detail as i want to look at library etc which didnt get chance look at last time. Really looking forward to it now.(Original post by lottielalo)

Re: New, planning on going to edge hill
I spent a year studying at Edge Hill, I was doing Chinese, and I hated it!
BUT
Edge Hill University was lovely, it was the course (that has been discontinued) that was the problem. There are some lovely people, the campus is gorgeous, Ormskirk doesn't live up to much and the freshers week was a bit lame, if that's your sort of thing.
Make sure you get accommodation in Ormskirk or on campus though, I lived in Liverpool (which is a great city and I wouldn't have changed it for the world) but it was 30 mins on the train, very expensive and it meant that I couldn't join any societies because of train times etc.
The library doesn't have enough computers and lacks some of the resources for certain subjects but there is a wealth of online books and stuff to access so that was never a problem.
The sports facilities are great but a little expensive if you don't live on campus (same for the food)
Overall it's a really lovely place, a bit isolated at times and not your usual Uni experience but it's a great place to study and make loads of friends and tbh that's more important than getting wasted and going out every night
Good luck and I hope you enjoy the open day

Re: New, planning on going to edge hill
Back from the open day and had a fantastic time. The going out getting wasted is not my cup of tea as i have 2 young children who are usually up in a morning about 5 am so not good with a hangover lol But i do love to socalise so hopefully will find something to suit. I found there was a lot of resources for the teaching i am doing and did find the whole day really informative.
I only live a 15 min drive away from campus, so it is handy to get to.Last edited by kerryglover; 16-06-2012 at 17:26. -

Re: New, planning on going to edge hill
Hello

I'm currently at Edge Hill and will be going into my 3rd year of Primary Education (QTS) in September.
I am also one of the Student Assistants in the Chancellors Court halls (new builds) from September 2012, and lived in Ainsworth, Graduates Court in my 1st year.
What halls has anyone here applied for?
Feel free to ask me any questions about the course, university or halls

Re: New, planning on going to edge hillHave Applied to Forest Court en-suite, back halls self catered (can't remember the names), Forest Court shared bathroom, main halls (again can't remember the names) and I think graduates court. Don't really have any questions at the moment but I will ask you if I do think of any.(Original post by emmmmm26)

Will Chancellors actually be done by September and are the rooms the same as founders and graduates court? -
Re: New, planning on going to edge hillYes they should be - that's why I've been moved over there.(Original post by NeverEatFish)
Hey
Will Chancellors actually be done by September and are the rooms the same as founders and graduates court?
Also, when I found out I was getting Chancellors I went up there to have a nosey before I went on placement. Some were finished already and the builders said they'll all be done by Sept.
Rooms are identical layout to Graduates/Founders, but the decor slightly different. EHU posted some pics of the finished ones on their Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...5877744&type=3 -
Oh wow they look even nicer!(Original post by emmmmm26)

And that's good, someone said when founders/graduates were first built people had to stay in a hotel because they weren't ready in time!
Thankyou

Have you had the email with all the pre-course information yet?
The letter about sorting out CRBs and stuff said we'd be emailed it before the end of June but I've had nothing yet.
