Gonna be honest here, the government are miles behind the internet and its various uses. Monitoring all online activity will, i agree with the tory minister, only catch the innocent and incompetent. Anyone with any serious agenda will be bypassing whatever ****ty monitoring they implement.

So true! If they are going to go about shutting down or monitoring anything online it should be the 'black' internet or whatever it is called. The place where you can buy women, drugs and guns with poker chips. Not the internet that the majority use for communication, education and entertainment.

Any slightly tech-savy person will easily be able to find a way around this. I would't regard myself as a tech genius at all but I would back myself to be able to avoid it through the likes of TOR/proxies etc. Or much more simply - an internet cafe! I agree with the Tory minister, it will only catch the innocent.

Well to be fair, the freedom to unrestricted internet access has only been possible fairly recently. Before the internet, if a group of paedophiles want to meet up to share photos they'd have to travel somewhere, and police could follow them as they travel in public.

The real problem with the proposal is simply that it's going to be very easy to get around (TOR) and it's just too expensive.

I really don't buy the whole "LOSS OF PRIVACY OMG!!!!!!111" thing, because anyone who might looking at this information isn't going to know you, and doesn't give a crap about your foot fetish.
