Grades needed to do Mech Eng at Loughborough
    Hi everyone.

Just wondering if there is anyone on here who does Mech Eng at Loughborough. I'm only ending year 11 now so still 2 years before uni however was starting too look at all of the options for Mech Eng, looking at Loughborough it seems to be really awesome and a place I would really like to go.

So if anyone doing Mech Eng there could you tell me what it is like and what entry criteria you had to get in.

    Thanks

F'ing hell thats high. UCAS.com says that they want ABB including maths and physics. I'm going to be taking Maths, physics, history A levels and Computing, further maths AS, and considering I got 100% in my physics GCSE then it should be possible. Wow that is alot higher than I was expecting, the careers department at my school said that they were all low because not enough people chose engineering, on ucas the only uni that high was imperial. Looks like I'm gonna really have to push myself to get in then.

EDIT: Checked ucas and the one I wanted to do is A*AA, my mistake, the careers department showed me the wrong one.

Hi there, I have applied to loughborough as my insurance choice for a BEng in mechanical engineering. My offer is ABB. Now bear in mind that the first 2 years of both the BEng and MEng courses are identical, even if you are on the BEng course and you are scoring highly enough in the assessments, you can simply ask to move up. Therefore I recommend that if you are not confident that you will achieve A*AA then apply for the BEng course and ask to move up to the MEng if you achieved well.
    Hope this helped.

This is the best way to go. I applied for MEng when they wanted AAB in 2009, and I got ABC instead, and they put me in BEng...starting 2010! If I had just applied for BEng I would have achieved their requirement and be in the year above.

The requirements to go from BEng to MEng during university are not that high anyway, they will offer you a place on MEng at the end of first year if you achieve 60% overall in the first year. And as Vitamin mentioned, the course for MEng and BEng are exactly the same for the first two years, and you can move between the two in those two years.
