Government and Politics?
Hello, I'm a long time lurker and a first time poster here, I'm currently finishing up my GCSEs and I had made my A Level choice previously. I chose Math, Further Math, Physics and Government and Politics. I am pretty happy with the maths as I did my GCSE last year and got 96% and I'm predicted an A* in Additional Maths this year which is based heavily on the AS Math course. But I was wondering would Politics be a bit weird thrown into the mix with math-based subjects? I am doing it just because I am fascinated by it and think it would be great subject to study and I always regretted not doing history at GCSE but since the workload is heavier in sixth form I was wondering if Politics would completely throw me off if my other subject are all math based? And is it even an enjoyable course?
Thanks very much.

Re: Government and Politics?
I'm not sure about how you would find it thrown in with the maths subjects but in my class of about 12, about 5 take maths so it's definitely not weird. I can imagine it would be a break as although there's quite a lot to learn, it's not particularly difficult. If you've taken it because you're fascinated by it, you'll probaly enjoy it and although you mentioned not doing history, you do quite a lot in politics e.g the history of the parties. And yes, I've really enjoyed it

Re: Government and Politics?
The other three subjects that you are doing are not essay-based, so G&P will be a nice variation in showing that you have a range of skills. I'm currently studying G&P AS and really enjoy the course, but the courses vary depending on which exam board you are doing it with. Do bear in mind, though, that G&P is not based around current affairs - that is General Studies.

Re: Government and Politics? The course in our school seems pretty good, and anyone in sixth form that I talked to said it was their favourite subject since even though it's a lot of work it isn't really difficult and very interesting.(Original post by pink pineapple)

Yeah I thought adding an essay based subject into the mix could be a good thing for that.(Original post by weirdnessandcoffee)
I'm taking Government and Politics...I think it shows a nice balance of subjects.
Oh yeah I'm aware that it's not current affairs, current affairs would not be even half as interesting anyway.(Original post by Scatach)

Thanks very much, guys I'd say I will probably stick by my choice then, if of course my results allow me to.
And sorry for posting in the wrong sub forum aha.
