That doesn't make any sense, unless he failed to disclose his fourth a level.
No, sorry I wasn't thinking how that sounded. They just said he shouldn't be studying four as the fourth isn't needed and it means he has to do more work and has more pressure on him.

    Hi everyone,

At the moment I am taking 4 As subjects, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and geography. I just sat my exams and didn't find that there was too much to revise for the 9 exams I had to sit but am wondering, will that change next year?
If it helps I am predicted 2 A*s (Maths and Physics) and 2As (Chem and geo) and want to study physics/astrophysics at university.

So, should I stay with 4 or drop one, which would be geography?

    Thanks in advance.
tbh geography is adding nothing. If I were you (and had the opportunity) taking an A/s in further maths or going into overdrive and doing the full A level in it would be the best use of your time - since you are going to have to learn this material anyway in the first months of your physics course.

p.s even if you don't do it formally, spending that time doing extra maths/learning to program or somthing will still pay off - unless you actually get a kick out of doing A level geography and you just can't put the book down it's really wasted time

In my sixth form they won't let us take 4, because one guy applied to Oxford and they found out he was taking 4, and they sent out head of sixth form a very angry letter. I'd say you don't need the fourth, so give yourself the extra time to spend on the other subjects.
I doubt that is true. Since many people apply to Oxford and Cambridge with 4 A2 or even 5 A2, my friend who's in year 13, above me by 1 year, he got rejected to do Oxford Medicine with 5A2, he does maths, biology, chemistry, physics and f.maths. He got 4A and a B in f maths last year. He got 8A* and 3A in his GCSE. So i don't think Oxford would write a very angry letter. They actually like people who do more than 3, (since it's Oxbridge). And another guy in year 13 has got an offer from Cambridge for 4 A2 though, his offer is A*A*AA. He does Fmaths, maths, chemistry and physics. He wants to do chemical engineering, :-/ So, sometimes the top two gives out offers for 4 A2, so yeah, they wouldn't write "angry letters" sorry for the rant, but i really think that's total blasphemy. >.>

Oxford don't snd angry letters because someone takes 4 A Levels. Did you read the article last year where a girl got 8A* at A Level and is now studying maths there?

I am doing the same option as you at the moment and i'm in year 12, I'm thinking of dropping history but I dont want to. Is there a lot of reading?
The revision for History was alot as for me they put both exams on the same day 1 after each other :| so had to revise both topics etc but that was partly because I found throughout the year History wasnt as demanding of my time as the other 3 infact I didnt find myself putting in hardly any work atall outside of lessons just listened in class and took it in then I did have to put in alot of hours revising but I've had my exam I felt it went well and hasn't detrimented my other subjects. It is hard work I'm not going to lie and some of my friends who took 4 ended up dropping one subjects or letting one subjects grade slip but I have enjoyed the history course enough for it to be worth it and I felt it was useful even for my science course application as I developed essay skills which are needed in any subject and I had to have interviews for my course and they seemed very positive about me having history!
