Foundation goes patchy through the day!
    Hi guys,
does anybody have any advice on how to stop my foundation going patchy throughout the day!? No matter what brand i use it still seems to go patchy (i use mac but have also used clinique etc) . I've tried moisturising before i apply my foundation, i've tried applying it with a foundation brush and just with my fingers but nothing seems to work! Would be very greatful if someone could give me a tip on how to get 'dewy', fresh looking skin that doesn't go patchy throughout the day!

Ahhh sadly mine does this too.

    Only solutions I've found?
EITHER carry round your foundation, brush & some makeup remover wipes and reapply it halfway through the day
Or the option I've gone for, just get a really good skincare regime and eventually you'll feel confident enough to go foundation-free :3 if you want any advice I'd be happy to help.

Have you tried using a primer underneath?

Thanks for all the suggestions! What primer would you reccommend and what exactly does it do? I will definitely try the estee lauder foundation as i think it's the only brand i havn't tried yet!

I'd say GOSH velvet touch foundation primer is the best primer I've come across. Hard Candy is a close second (but it's difficult to find in England!) They give a nice smooth base, help control shine and keep your foundation looking fresh.

Think of it like prepping a canvas for oil painting - if you don't prep a canvas the oil paint just seeps through and goes all messy. It's the same with foundation, and that's why your foundation is going patchy

I like MAC SPF 50, Laura Mercier primer or Smashbox Photofinish. For a cheaper one, Rimmel primer is actually not bad.

I will definitely try on of the primers as soon as i get paid, does make sense actually when you relate it to an oil painting! I need to but so many things but i'm seriously lacking the funds- not good! Thanks again for the suggestions

I've tried everything and the only thing i've found is re applying it.

Surely you can't expect make up to last a whole day? You sweat, touch your face etc etc.

Smashbox primer and translucent setting powder usually does the trick.

Try exfoiliating more often, if you don't already to give skin an even base. I recommend L'Oreal Studio secrets primer which is the best one I have tried personally.

Also would agree with leaving time between moisturiser/primer application and foundation application.

I use an exfoliating face scrub every day but i will definitely try the primer you have suggested as soon as i have been paid! What does primer actually do? Is it a lighter foundation type of thing or more like a moisturiser?

I think the idea of a primer is to provide a smooth base for foundation. Some make your make up last longer...others cover up pores etc. Its closer to a moisturiser than a foundation. You can still use moisturiser aswell as primer.
