Re: Resitting A levelsSorry, Economics + Geogrpahy Joint Degrees is only AAA(Original post by 16dan2life)
I'm sure UCL ask for A*AA(A* in maths) to study economics?

Re: Resitting A levelsI'm not saying he's wrong. I'm saying the information he was given - being 'extremely less likely', is wrong, based on my experience.(Original post by Junaid96)
That doesn't make him wrong. All he said was that it was unlikely. You got lucky - you're clearly a weaker candidate than others if you had to resit, and so you would have had to prove yourself in other ways.
Firstly, how do you know it was luck and not, say, hard work? Secondly, how am I clearly a weaker candidate. Are you aware of ANY circumstances that led me to do badly? Finally, what a contradicting statement. A candidate is not defined solely by their grades, as you seem to suggest in "proving myself in other ways"?
My post was to correct the advice that was given to him by illustrating that it is perfectly possible. In other words, trying to help out from a 'been there, done that' perspective.
This pretentious post, based on no knowledge does WHAT exactly to help? -
Re: Resitting A levels
my friend ended up with CDD in his Alevels, has reapplied this year while retaking pretty much all of them.
got into exeter, kent, royal holloway. don't know what others. you can get into pretty good unis as long as you have an excuse. his offers are mostly AAB-ABB so they must have seen somewhere that he was capable.
from my own experience, i missed my ABB offer last year (with A*AC) then reapplied this year without retaking anything, and got 5 unconditionals from durham, york, bath, nottingham and cardiff for biology, even though all of them usually ask for a B in maths. i did well in the subject i wanted to do so they evidently didn't care about maths too much, a C was adequate. however I did have quite a lot of reading and experience which helped me a lot. -
I resat yr12. Got BCU (psychology, history and biology) in my first year. Dropped history, resat biology, picked up R.E and continued psychology to get AAB in the second year - got offers from Kent, UEA, Nottingham and Essex (withdrew from York). So re-sitting didn't hinder my application at all but I think it depends on the uni and subject along with how strong your personal statement is

Re: Resitting A levels
I'm in exactly the same situation. Need 3 B's for Chemistry at Loughborough, but what with my brother in and out of hospital the last few months things haven't really gone to plan. My head of year at college doesn't seem to believe me that I know that I haven't done very well in my exams this exam period and thinks that if I resit the year I'm unlikely to get any offers next year :/

Re: Resitting A levelsIt's going to sound weird but my brother has been in hospital when i had a few exam resits anyway. I spoke to a few teachers and the head of year at school, telling me that better universities probably won't give me an offer if i spent a year resitting.(Original post by Lostox)

I understand about teachers not believing you, that you haven't done as well as you had hoped in exams. I am in a similar position and albeit I choose Kings and requirements are AAB.
Good luck for remaining exams

Re: Resitting A levelsto be honest i want to redo the year, as i know i can get aabb if i resat some of the exams!(Original post by codified1)
I am doing my A2s and are worried i have not done enough to get into my university. Would universities e.g. UEA, Kent, Loughborough, be less inclined to give a university offer to someone who has spent a year resitting exams, in this time i will also do productive things work/work experience.
