    What exactly is biomass? I know its the weight of an organism but what is it? dry mass or wet mass ?

    also
    to do this scientist put all organism and put them in an oven at 80degree until all water evaporate.This is destructive.
    ecologist just often measure wet mass of organism and calculate the dry mass on previously published data. How exactly is this calculated?please help? how would you get this and how would you use wet mass?

    Biomass is dry mass,
    It is calculated by using previously published data, so an ecologist would weigh an organism , to give its wet mass , then look at the data to see what its dry mass would be
