What I don't get is why they (as in the morons) feel the need to give 16 year olds the vote. Yeah, sure, give it those easily motivated by the emotional feel SNP brings. It's not like anyone's ever had to ask 16 year olds to be rational ever.

Maybe there should be a referendum on whether the Holyrood parliament stays and it requires over 50% of all registered voters to remain.

Hell, Ireland split from the Union and they've been fine ever since. Good luck Scotland.

I think the point he was trying to make is when Ireland gained independence they were told they wouldn't last long before trying to unite again, fair to say they have created a good stable country its a real shame about the financial crisis though, such a wonderful country.

You see, this is the problem with the internet. I can't properly convey sarcasm without the tone of voice.

Actually, I was going (unsuccessfully) for sarcasm, but I would note that the Irish have gone from having their affairs dictated from London to having them dictated from Washington and Brussels.

Thanks. (Unless this comment is also sarcastic. Bloody recursions.)

No thanks, I'm going to vote no, and I'm confident the majority of Scotland will do the same.

Edinburgh is probably somewhat less representative of Scotland as a whole, for example take the jubilee celebrations two weeks ago, I think there were far fewer street party applications in Scotland compared to the rest of the UK, but where there were street parties in Scotland, they were almost certainly in Edinburgh. Not saying theres a direct link/correlation to the issue of independence but I think that does offer some indication about how people there feel about the concept of being part of the United Kingdom. Not done any extensive research into this, but I'm willing to bet that the most fervent republican and/or scottish-independence-supporting terroritories in Scotland lie elsewhere away from Edinburgh.

There really isn't much indication that there are any places in Scotland where there is some sort of fervour for Scottish nationalism. I think there will be a few places which are strongly against any of this independence talk - the south and the Northern Isles for example - but I don't think the opposite is true, or indeed that Edinburgh actually falls into that category.

Yet to see people discuss Scottish independence with facts instead of just assumptions with no real substance to them. The only arguments I have heard so far is that it will become like Ireland and that we are strong together, I am yet to hear a pro independence argument. So really I have heard 2 cases for the union and neither have anything to them.

They have just been "we are stronger together" "why?" "we just are shut up"
