I've never in my life seen intelligence do anything on it's own. I don't consider myself intelligent by TSR standards, but some people seem to think I am, and I purposely have to dumb down when I'm with girls.

Frankly, if you don't believe at least four girls who have stated that they prefer intelligent guys when they're on an internet forum and don't have to save face, then that's your choice. But I personally find intelligence to be far far sexier than looks. I really hate to draw on stereotypes and generalise but girls do tend to go for personality and character traits as opposed to looks.

The thing is, I did meet an intelligent guy, and at first I wasn't particularly attracted to him in terms of looks and there were many parts of his personality I didn't like. But he was intelligent and I really fell for that, and I grew to love the rest of him as well. If he hadn't been intelligent and had similar interests to me I wouldn't have been interested in him as much, if at all. The intelligence is a big factor to me because I like to talk about Maths and Science, I love reading good books and watching documentaries, and I like to discuss current affairs and topical issues. Intelligent guys who do those things as well are really attractive to me because they're interesting people, and they will probably care more about what I have to say than someone who doesn't understand what I'm talking about half the time! Intelligence isn't the only trait I look for in a guy, but it's definitely the most important one for me.

It depends if they're arrogant; tbh.

If you're smart, you do generally feel a need to boast more as they feel they have nothing else going for them. A "hot" guy who may struggle but try really hard would obviously be more attractive than some guy going "AHAHAHA, I get 11 A*'s and I'm going to complain about the one A I got and I didn't even try!".

Intelligence and looks will go to waste if you're some smug ****.

The last part is a common misconception.

The only time personality and character traits are remotely attractive is when there are part of an overall package, the bulk of which is comprised of social status, money and looks. Women don't admit this because they don't want to come across as mean or shallow and perhaps they've been insisting on it so much and so often that they're actually starting to believe it.

The fact of the matter is - if you're good looking you will get noticed more by the opposite sex, so then there's enough time to notice these amazing personality traits that seem to get you so wet. It also sounds better to say "oh well he's such a nice person and has an amazing personality" than "oh I really fancy him because he's gorgeous and he's really popular".

What you described there are two polar opposites. What do you think? That the world is split between people who sit in coffee shops discussing the financial times index and people who sit in council houses discussing reality TV and their favorite cosmetics? I hardly think so.

You remind me one of those beta males who claims that the good-looking barbie type of girl whose all about fashion and make-up does absolutely nothing for them when in reality if she was sprawled out on his bed he would slay her without a second thought.
