Why does every site I visit have a pop up message RE cookies?
Everytime I go to a site that I haven't been to before, such as just now Burberry.com, I always get a messagew somewhere in the page telling me that [burberry.com] uses cookies and that they will presume I am happy for this, unless I click [here].

Do you think this is a virus?

Or is there some kind of new online regulations that say all websites must admit that they use cookies?

I think there's been new regulations passed/the law changed slightly recently.

New legislation requires websites to inform you of their cookie usage etc.
    Nothing to be concerned about.

Bunch of derps getting scared/paranoid about seeing an item they recently searched for on another website as an advertisement, so the government being the fail they are, listened to the 10-20 people moaning and made it a law to inform all users what cookies are and how they are being used.

The new cookie law has recently begun to be enforced. This means that sites have started using popups, however there is a serious flaw with the cookie law that means it's essentally a waste of time and money.

Hmmm, given that this law is derived from Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament, I doubt that it has anything to do with a our goverment listening to anyone except Brussels.
