    M99 - Falklands Islands motion
M99 - Falklands Islands motion, barnetladThis House recognises the continued UK commitment to the Falkland Islands and thinks that this should be shown by a plaque or statue. A place for this in the UK should be provided, and Paul Henry should open it, wearing a beanie hat, to recognise that the islanders were known as 'Bennies' by the armed forces who liberated the islands'.

Don't you ever get bored of making these joke petitions? Surely you would rather just stop pissing about and do some real politics?

Didn't the Labour-Libertarian motion have the exact same name? Does that cause a problem at all?

The number distinguishes it so it's fine.

Why has someone negged Nick for this? It's not him who submitted it.

Poorly timed 'joke' motion in my opinion. At best it's ignorant, but at worst it's insulting.

Suddenly struck me... is this a clever reference to Adorno's labeling you Gollum? :gasp:

No. Benny was a character in a soap opera, Crossroads. Probably nowadays his character would be described as having special needs. So Forces humour was not very kind to the Falkland Islanders.
