Re: Holding reset button down? You'd reset the power state of your computer.(Original post by M4LLY)
Just because i'm bored and curious
What effect would it have on a computer if you held the reset button down for, say, 10 minutes? -
Re: Holding reset button down?Yeah, i knew that. Perhaps i should have worded the question better, so here we go;(Original post by Mad Vlad)
You'd reset the power state of your computer.
Would it mess up the computer if you held down the reset button on a computer for 10 minutes? -
Re: Holding reset button down?As I said; it will just reset the power state of your computer - that's all.(Original post by M4LLY)

Re: Holding reset button down?I think you're thinking of an ATX reset, which is a 10 second hold of the power button while the AC is disconnected. It shouldn't do anything to the CMOS.(Original post by thecoldground)
As far as I remember, if you hold it down for 10 seconds it resets the BIOS to factory settings (you might have to take the battery out...). That's the boot settings, the fan, stuff like that, not stuff which most people change unless they're installing Linux.
