Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
I don't think we'll lose Mike too soon, and i'm wondering why the issue of him being ex-police was brought up again. I think it may not be the last interaction between Hank and Mike (what an awesome pair of dudes).
So my current predos are this:
Walt to attempt to cut Mike out of the equation by going above his head to Lydia.
At some point he will kidnapp mike's grand-daughter
Walt to effectively 'sacrifice' one of his children for his freedom.
I also suspect either Hank is already onto Walt or the police are already onto Vamos re. the burglaries
Interesting trivia:
Walt was going to kill Jessie at the end of S1. Due to Gilligan being taken by Jessie, the dynamics of their relationship and a writers strike, they decided to keep him on.Last edited by Mister Dead; 03-08-2012 at 16:21. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
This is an excellent read! Full of all the foreshadowing, allusions and general awesomeness that is Breaking Bad.

Also dying at the reviews of this -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
HAHAHA i just remembered when Walt jr. used to call himself Flynn.. what was that even about?!
I really don't want Walt to kidnap Mike's granddaughter but looks like that's going to happen :'( Although I'm not sure what would happen after that because I can't see Walt killing Mike or vice versa.
I want to know more about Lydia and I'm looking forward to more Walt/Skyler interaction, I wonder when it's all going to kick off! -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5I think Walt is going to rape Skyler torward the end of the run of 8 episodes. I'm not sure yet that we've had a truly awful scene to watch yet, have we? (by afwul I mean actually really difficult and horrible to Watch)(Original post by Shippy)

I guess Walt leaving Jane to die would be closest. Most of the murders have been quite quick, even poor old Gale who really did very little wrong, apart from be a meth cook assistant.Last edited by Mister Dead; 05-08-2012 at 15:51. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5I just don't see WHY Walt would rape Skyler? I'd have thought the last thing on Walt's mind would be sex... I'd be interested to see how that would unfold if it did happen. I guess all it takes is for Skyler to say no and Heisenberg would come out to play. I really hope if it does happen it's done in such a way that is really painful to watch, be a good opportunity for Anna Gunn to play up to her acting ability I think.(Original post by Mister Dead)

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5I would prefer it to be ambiguous. Something that the fans will debate whether it happened or not after the show has finished. I can't really think of anything (so far) which is open to interpretation and hasn't been revealed a couple of episodes later (e.g the cigarette switch, Gale being killed and Ted being alive).(Original post by Shippy)

Walt's change in personality (heisenberg) and associated raging libido has featured on a number of occassions - firstly at the end of the pilot episode, when he returns home on a high after breaking bad and gives Skyler a good seeing to. Even Skyler remarks: "Is that you Walt?".
There are a few other occassions during other seasons when Walt and Skyler are or have had sex, but now watch the last minute of episode S05E01 and S05E02. There is a distinctly 'rapey' feel to both. Skyler is creeped out by Walt on both occassions. Walt has moved back into the house and is already looking to control and manipulate Skyler. This situation is going to get worse, not better. Walt is going to attempt to dominate her, and I don't think he really has the beating of her, mentally. I fear it is inevitable.
And finally, check out the name of episode S05E07. It has just recently been changed from 'everybody wins' to:
'say my name'.
'HEISENBERG'
is that you Walt? Nope, it's Heisenberg. It's the full tranformation from that scene in the pilot episode, to this.Last edited by Mister Dead; 05-08-2012 at 16:19. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5I had wondered this myself about Walt's horniness after doing something particularly naughty... I guess what i'm really wondering is what bad thing he would do to get him into that mindset where he would rape Skyler. As JJames said, they may well leave it to be ambiguous, and having thought about it I don't think a rape scene would fit in with Breaking Bad's style and I'm thinking now if anything does happen it's going to be very ambiguous.(Original post by Mister Dead)

And yeah I agree there were very odd, rapey, dominant moments in the first few episodes, so I'm looking forward to seeing where that all leads to. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
Good episode.
Spoiler:Show
Walt's getting more terrifying every week. That bedroom scene, Jesus christ. But despite the growing like, sense of power and confidence, I think there's also a sense that he's totally doing it wrong. Like, Gus (who despite his eventual exploded face was a really good drug dealer) never seemed like one for flash cars or relentless intimidation. Walt's buying (leasing, whatever) multiple flash cars, scaring **** out of people, and wearing his Heisenberg hat everywhere fgs. And not killing Lydia because he doesn't want to halt his cooking is just flat-out moronic. Tbh Walt seems more like a Tuco than a Gus figure at this point (and that bigass assault rifle in the premiere may be an indication that he's likely to continue in that vein).
On the not killing Lydia note, she has to be one of the single stupidest characters in the history of the show. Like, that guy who got his head crushed by the ATM was probably smarter. Post-ATM crushing. Double crossing Mike twice is stupid enough, but assuming a seasoned and prolific killer is going to just leave you alone when you remove the only reason you have for your continued existence is just a massive, forceful, skin-eroding facepalm. Her rationale was that he'd back off if the cops were tracking meth from Madrigal, I guess, but that'd just accelerate the need for her, a jittery and probs talkative type, to be murdered as quickly and quietly as possible. The actress is really good in the role, though.
Mad sympathy for Skyler right now.
Some really on the nose symbolism - the ticking watch, Skyler immersed in the uh, crystal clear blue pool, the blood leaking from Walt's head- but all of these examples involved some awesome close-ups, so, whatever, I guess.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5Spoiler:ShowAfter that pool scene im even more convinced Skyler will eventually kill herself, or try to. Whether that be a deliberate thing to protect her children or whether she will just lose the plot is difficult to say after the bedroom scene. Despite her bitchiness and wrongdoing, this really must be tearing her apart all this stuff. I can't imagine what's going on in her head.
Lydia is a complete idiot, I can't really be bothered with her now after this episode, she needs to be disposed of.
Aside from that i don't have much else to say about this episode, it was a good one but just not much to say about it. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5Spoiler:ShowWith Skyler revealing that she's not mentally well, I have this feeling that Walt will poison her with the ricin and stage it so it looks like suicide. It doesn't make sense at this particular point but perhaps Skylar will take more drastic measures to protect herself and the kids by putting Walt in immediate danger, forcing him to play his hand?
As an aside: did anyone 'DAAAAAWWWWWW' at Jesse giving a present to Walt? I thought it was so sweet.

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
What a great episode!
The beginning 4 minutes legit had me laughing for ages ...just the dubstep and the cars and Walt and Walt Jr
Mannnn, feel so bad for Skylar these days. Whatever resentment I may have had for her with regards to the Ted situation has been fully replaced by just... overwhelming sympathy.
As always, Mike and Jesse (while playing small roles in this episode) BIG LOVE. And... that Lydia character needs to be killed asap - she is just really lame
WALT NEEDS TO DIE. He has upped his creep-factor and just makes me retch
In short, s5 has not let me down. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
Yeah, decent episode. It beggars belief that anyone would have had a shred of sympathy for Walt beyond even the first season or so, yet if you read the imdb boards or any of the other bb threads elsewhere, people everywhere still hated Skyler and believed that she deserved what has happened over these four seasons. I can totally understand that Walt is our protagonist and as such we view this all through his eyes. People sympathise with him because of that and Skyler has been one of the major obstacles to the most exciting bits of the story, but i'm glad that Gilligan has decided to spell out, in great big capital letters, for all the mouth-breathing mysogynists out there, just who is the evil one and who is the victim.
I made several observations when I was watching it but i've forgotton them already. Going to watch it again I reckon and then i'll contribute some thoughts.
Amazing work from Skyler in the pool there, manipulating what will happen with the kids and totally mentally beasting Walt. She's his match mentally and more. This will be fascinating because she has so few options.Last edited by Mister Dead; 06-08-2012 at 16:22. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5
I think Walt will kill Skyler as a suicide, and Hank will figure it out. Skyler will step up her efforts because really, even a few days away isn't doing anything at the moment except piss Walt off. They're still not 'safe' if they're not in hiding, so sending them to their uncle and aunt's place isn't going to protect anyone.
I'm surprised Hank bothered asking Marie what's wrong, he didn't seem the type to care about his wife's 'oddities' that much, espeically after only a few days. When she was stealing stuff he effectively just laughed it off. I suppose it's the most plausible way they could get Marie to spill the beans.
Lydia shouldn't be too difficult to replace, surely they can stick with her for now whilst they find another supplier (whatever Mike was planning to do to find them) then just switch over?
Misogynists? Lol. We don't have to be for one and against another based on gender (or even like either), and anyone can just throw around accusations of sexism if there are a man and a woman involved - by your standards you're a misandrist by siding against Walt.(Original post by Mister Dead)

Re: Breaking Bad Season 5that's incorrect though, because I can demostrate that skyler is morally the correct person to side with, irrespective of sex. I can also point you torwards many, many, many examples of mysogynistic (spelling??) language used by people siding with Walter. I'm not sure you'll find any evidence of misandrism on my part.(Original post by Hopple)

People don't hate Skyler because she's a woman. They hate her because she's an annoying character.
And those of us with enough taste to have watched Deadwood disliked her in that too, because that woman is just annoying.Last edited by concubine; 06-08-2012 at 17:30. -
Re: Breaking Bad Season 5Why do you feel the need to side with either? But okay, go ahead and demonstrate why everyone should morally think Skyler's an entirely blameless victim.(Original post by Mister Dead)
