Re: Gateway science - P4 P5 P6 (20/6/12)rectification is converting AC current into DC(Original post by Paramore<3)
Has anyone got any good online resources/notes? I'm trying to use my textbook to get my head around P6, but I'm finding it really difficult! Rectification, capacitors, relays... what even are these things...
Capacitors are those things which store electric charge and release it when there is no current flowing
Relays are those things that isolate low and high current circuits and are used with logic circuits because the output from these is usually of low voltage. -
Re: Gateway science - P4 P5 P6 (20/6/12)O...k... I think I get that, thanks! Haha, do you mind if I ask you *why* those things are used? Sorry and thank you!(Original post by milworthy)

Re: Gateway science - P4 P5 P6 (20/6/12)So you can work a component which needs a DC supply from an AC supply.(Original post by Paramore<3)

Re: Gateway science - P4 P5 P6 (20/6/12)Haha same here. I got A's on all the papers but a D on the specimin :/(Original post by chelseafan)
Jus finished doing ever past paper. What do we thinks gonna come up. -
Re: Gateway science - P4 P5 P6 (20/6/12)You got a link to the specimin?(Original post by Simran Mars Foster)
Haha same here. I got A's on all the papers but a D on the specimin :/ -
Re: Gateway science - P4 P5 P6 (20/6/12)Sure the AC rectification is used so that things that need a DC current can use AC supply.(Original post by Paramore<3)

a capacitor is used so probably like a rechargable battery. It is also used to smooth circuits and to delay responses in circuits.
A relay is used to isolate high current and low voltage currents so that the user doesn't get electrocuted, and also with logic gate circuits because the output from these is low.
