You know, I'm really starting to hope that Hamilton and Alonso will be team-mates again. Both drivers have really spoken high praise for each other over the last 2/3 years and without team infuences, it would be so awesome to watch. But, maybe the current level mutual respect is because they're in different teams now.. I hope not..
I'd love to see them team mates again; personally I think if it wasn't a destructive relationship they would be unstoppable.

Hamilton to move to Ferrari would be a big risk though, that's Alonso's territory now. That said, I think to prove himself as a great, Hamilton will need to move teams at some point.

As Alonso will never more back to McL, for this to happen Hamilton must leave them. Slight downside for me as I enjoy my favorite driver being paired with my favorite team.

    The good times :yep:

I was only 13 when that podium took place, can't believe it was that long ago.

Kinda gutted that I wasn't old enough to properly appreciate and fully understand the sport at that time, especially as it was far more complicated at that time than it is now with all the strategies etc.

    Precisely.

They get on well together if they race close to each other, but not as team-mates.

I can't wait for Alonso to get a fast team-mate that can match him and beat him (if hamilton can't join ferrari)

No, he should of got atleast a 5 grid penalty for the next race. 1 point loss isn't exactly loads and like another poster said bruno gained a point so no loss to williams.
So despite what happened Maldonado should go away with a point? (I didn't realise that it was Senna who got it in his place.) And to the teams further back any points is a big deal. Williams are now one point ahead of Force India. Even the championship can be won by one point at the end of the year...

No one would be able to beat him atm. He is at the peak of his powers.

Would you really bet against Kimi at Spa if he had the same machinery?

Not trying to take anything away from Alonso, but Kimi did manage to haul that truck of a 2009 Ferrari to victory, it'd be very close given the same car.

Strange that nobody has mentioned Vettel yet in this discussion as a potential team mate as this is looking more likely atm. Personally I don't rate Vettel that highly, and doubt he would give Alonso that much of a challenge; but given his age he still has a lot of development ahead of him and could in the future.

Then again, perhaps I'm just biased against Vettel given how frustrating I found his run and hide wins last season. There were some moments of brilliance, his move on Alonso at Monza springs to mind.

I think in terms of racing and speed, Hamilton has a chance- although this year I think Alonso is performing the best. However, I imagine Alonso would be able to better command the team and establish himself, even if they both moved to Red Bull or Merc or something so it's starting from neutral territory. He does have experience of moulding a new team, and knows how it can potentially go wrong.

Wasnt that the same race that he was struggling to overtake the force india for the lead, and then used KERS. Towards the end of the year the car was significantly better after Massa's crash. He is good at spa, but he is far too inconsitant. One race he is hot, another useless.

IMO, Vettel would give Alonso a very hard time and might beat him. I don't see why not, he has proven race-winning speed and qualifying ability (probably the quickest on the grid tbh). He obliterated Webber last season, who is no slouch.

I highly doubt, any top driver will be paired with Alonso at the Scuderia. We all know what happened the last time that occurred, don't we?

Ferrari operate better with number 1 and 2 driver. Useless when the drivers are equal.

Totally agree, I can see Vettel outqualifying Alonso just about every race.

If the car is bad though then Alonso will destroy Vettel, but with a front-row car Vettel will run away with it. I personally think he's the best perfectionist driver right now in terms of doing the whole pole to victory thing.

Alonso might beat him through consistency but again, Vettel's consistency was on another level last year. If you think about the relative age/experience levels, then Vettel is punching well above his weight right now. To think he still could be 5-6 years off his ultimate peak, it's impressive what he's doing now on this grid.

More chance of pigs flying to the moon and back.

It's impractical to have a GP in the middle of London.
