How do you use your ipad for the educational purpose ?
Hi guys,
At the moment i am considering of buying an ipad and i am trying to understand if it is a useful gadget or just a toy.I already asked a few of my friends and they told that it is really great thing including for education and so on but they were having a problem to describe in which way ipads are so great for education specifically. So all of you who got the ipads (or any other tablets) please leave here the ways you use it for studying in school or university. You can name apps you use and how they help you. Or just tell what do you think about the problem in general and if you would recommend ipad for school/uni or not. -

You can put Word and Powerpoint onto it so you can take notes and share presentations. I'm sure there are other apps, the newer ones have Garage band on which can be useful for musicians.
I'm rather interested in this as well, but more for seeing how a tablet would be better than having a PC. At the moment I could type up my essays or scripts on a PC, put it on a memory stick and take it into uni. Perhaps you could be able to take notes anywhere and paste them into essays. But I am interested to see the extent of how a iPad or any tablet would benefit more than being easier than a laptop to carry around. -

I take lecture notes on mine using Pages. I also have a lot of my course books on it, which is useful. Oh and I also use it in the library with the online catalogue- I can search for books whilst I walk through the shelves which is more useful that running back and forth to the computers. I've found it really useful for university- to the point that I got rid of my laptop and replaced it with a desktop because I don't need the portability anymore.

I love the calender on it, it's so easy to use and useful. I don't really write essays but pages is great. You can always buy a keyboard if you don't like typing on it. iBooks it good for opening PDF's. At the moment the only thing I'm using it for is opening past papers, it's easier to see than on my laptop

iBooks for all the pdf files.
Capacitive stylus for taking (some) notes during lectures/seminars. I'm a maths student, so using a keyboard to type up notes is out of the question. As long as the lecturer doesn't go too quickly, any of the note-taking applications like Notability are suitable, and also means that you can email the notes to anyone else who wants them right away. -

I use Mental Case for vocab flashcards, iBooks/Kindle app for textbooks, GoodReader for PDFs (you can highlight/annotate directly onto the text), Dropbox for syncing files, iTunes U for educational videos/podcasts and SPQR/Ancient Greek apps for Greek and Latin dictionaries
