India is sure that Russia will not comment on this.

However, India still feels that Russia will not disclose their gas information to a former Soviet satellite state.

Then surely the other members of the UN should encourage Russia to divulge the information. I'm sure nobody wants another Ukraine situation.

What is meant by 'another Ukraine situation'? Would the representative for Lithuania care to elaborate?

This is not a matter for the UN immediately, but should be discussed by Russia and Lithuania first. If no developments are made, then the issue should be brought to the United Nations.

The Ukraine believes that this is an issue that effects nations all over Europe, a very sizable amount of gas is imported from Russia all over Europe.

The UN should act to ensure that Russia does not use its illegal state owned monopoly in gas to blackmail other countries in co-towing to Moscow.

Forcing Russia to declare what it intends to do with gas prices would help all nations in Europe to plan for the future and allow nations in eastern Europe become more independent.

We will stick to our contract, as we have been doing, until 2009. It may be necessary to reconsider in certain circumstances after that. Diversification and security of energy supplies, including their protection from terrorist attacks are our first priority at this time.
