Re: Foundation and ashy skin
Try Bobbi Brown foundations, their colours are tailored for all ethnicities!
I also have a problem area with foundation around my mouth and I have found two solutions. Either use a primer (I recommend Laura Mercier primer or Smashbox Photo finish) and then massage the foundations in not using a brush but a soft/cellulose sponge or your fingers. This creates a softer, more pliable cover than a brush or a hard sponge due to the moisture and the heat.
The second option often breaks me out but I have terrible problem skin and many friends who don't have acne prone skin find this tip wonderful. Take a setting powder, just like the one you would use on top of your foundation (Bobbi Brown Sheer Loose Powder is brilliant!) and lightly dust it onto the skin until it feels soft and matte to the touch. Then apply foundation on top! This stops it from flaking and becoming ashy as the powder acts as a base.
Hope this helps! -
Yep, it's about the same price bracket as Mac
I recommend the Skin Foundation, it works for all skin types and it's wonderful
however, have a look at all the different types, there might be one you would prefer!
Basically any department store that you can buy Mac as well
Debenams, House of Fraser are the standard ones but if you don't live in a city, you can order off the website!

Fashion fair is also another brand as is Iman. You need to see what tone your skin is. Some people are more yellow, some more red. Its worth noting this before going to speak to MA's because some of them are not sure about skin tones and try to match you a darker colour than you are!

You need to use a good concealer.
Cleanse your face, moisturise it WELL, wait a while, apply primer to T-zone and the darker areas, then use a concealer and apply that to the problem areas. Then LIGHTLY apply the foundation and finish it off with powder.
Dont use too much of anything, you want to look natural and not like a CAKE. -
