Student Finance Trouble - Financial Evidence
    Hi,

I completed my student finance ago way back in Feburary/March time however I am still having problems with it.

My parents are divorced and as such my financial asssesment is only based on my mother's finance. We were asked to send evidence in for this, which we did weeks ago. However, weeks after this I got an email stating that we still hadn't recieved they evidence so I rang them up. After ringing them up they stated that they did have the evidence and had it right there in front of them, and to ignore the email. I thought everything was sorted. We even posted them the evidence again to make sure they had recieved it.

However, today I recieved a letter stating that my student finance application has been assessed WITHOUT household income meaning I do not get the full amount I am entitled to. It does say on the letter that if we have sent the evidence I will recieve another letter with the correct amount, but I'm worried this won't be the case, or I won't get it in time for university?

I wanted to know if it was routine for people to recieve a letter stating the amount they are entitled to without household income and then one after stating the amount they get when household income is assessed, or whether this means they aren't going to take my household income into account?

I realy hope you can help

Hi I actually have the exact same thing as you, I got the email and letter saying they were still awaiting evidence but when I checked on my account the evidence section was like "we aren't awaiting any evidence from you", and yeah my letter said if I have sent the appropriate evidence, which I hooope I have, then I can ignore it. But I don't wanna ignore it either! Arggh driving me crazy, I need my income to be taken into account xxxxx

These 'changes' with an incorrect letter do happen quite a bit, and there's still quite a while till you start so it's not something to panic about necessarily. They just send the first letter out so that at last something is in place for when you start, rather than if they waited abs you hadn't sent evidence and you got nothing. They like to take their time with evidence and updating their systems. Also check the date on the letter, it might be from ages ago, their post seems to be somehow delayed usually.

The best thing you can do is to keep ringing them, to give them a nudge if they have lost something. Note the time and date of call, the name of the person you speak to and what they say. Just say you're calling to check the progress of your application as the evidence was sent on x date but you still haven't received an income assessed letter. Repeat every few Weeks until you get the letter. Good luck!
