Can anyone tell me how to invest in stocks and shares?
Title sounds odd but is their a guide on the tsr or does anyone have one that can give me an introduction into investing in shares. I would like to start and would want to know what the minimum amount would have to be to invest and etc.?

Also don't mind if anyone knows of any useful books related to this topic.

    Many thanks in advance,

You can buy shares through online stockbrokers. These offer execution only and as such they are often the cheapest option.

Shares are comparably quite risky things to get involved in . I wouldn't suggest getting involved until you know what you are doing as there is a significant chance of you losing a considerable portion of your original investment.
