i went on to this site
    http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/cardiff
and it says the average tariff points for cardiff is 431 and it says
50% of cardiffs students have AAB or above, that means the average
tarriff points should be 340? lol

is it something else you can add to ur tarriff points? or the majority just take 4 A levels?

They might be counting AS levels too, which could be, say, AABb meaning 390 points.
Music and dance grades can also count once you're past grade six, I think, but I'm not involved in either of those so I wouldn't be certain over the number of points given there.

yeah but if they added AS levels it would be usually 4 As levels? so something like AABaabb

    No no no.
You don't count points that way.

A whole A-level is AS+A2 exams. You don't count the AS part twice which is what you'd be doing if you did AABaabb, or whatever. You count the full A-level (AS + A2) and then add on any extra ASs or other points.

It's also worth bearing in mind that the mean and median number of points could be different - saying '50% of people have this or above' is talking about the median but saying 'the average is this' is talking about the mean.

So, for instance, the mean here could be pushed up by a few students scoring exceptionally highly as well as other factors mentioned above.
