Idiosyncratic reviews of that which is not commonly scrutinised
This thread will allow you to express your creativity and writing ability and comment on other people's. You have to comment either briefly or extensively on the previous review and then post one yourself. The rules are:

The reviews must be about things which aren't generally reviewed
You must comment on the person's before you
    You must be creative!

I'll start us off - remember it doesn't have to be a review in the conventional sense, it can be a creative description without mentioning the pros and cons of what it is, if you want.

    Review of the ghetto

The ghetto is a place where disenfranchised individuals congregate and shoot heroin, smoke crack, sell drugs and shoot people. Some moan about these things happening while making comparisions to a different time, a time where gangs didn't brazenly walk around with guns and a contempt for anyone who isn't part of their cew. A time where people didn't walk around and look down at syringes on the ground with complete apathy, a time where people didn't abhor the arrival of the police, or the '5 o yo'. But no, that time had disappeared quicker than respect for women went by the men who whored them out, viewing their capital as nothing more than vehicles to make more profit. If Shavonda didn't like it, so what? She brought in good dollars and that's what counted. Dollars were the lifeblood of the ghetto, more so than even Beverly Hills. Even though there was more of the green paper in California's affluent neighbourhood, it wasn't sought after as much or in quite the same way as it was in the ghetto. In beverly hills, an individual might invest into a potentially lucrative business offering its IPO and will hope to make money that way. In the ghetto, an individual might run up on a man, stick a gun in his face and hope that he's got a few dollars on him. Same country, same organs, different category of human being altogether. In the ghetto, if you want a car, you're going to have to have a really good week selling brown, get lucky and rob someone who inexplicably decided to wander around with cash money on him or you're going to have to carjack someone like 'step out of the damn vehicle sir, you under a lot of stress thanks to my ass robbing yours!'. Comedian criminals proliferate in the ghetto, for to be serious and underprivileged is to go through each day hating yourself. Adding a humurous spin on the seriousness of it all makes it a lot easier to comprehend and wade through all the daily drama. 'Ey yo brother, Latosha done lost her cellphone and i said, did you look up your fat ass? and even she said that there aint enough time in the day for that'. Mocking one's body weight is commonplace in the hood, largely thanks to the fact that self esteem issues do not take precedence in the list of concern's plaguing the beleaguered residents. Worry about your fat belly, or spend time devising a plan to not get shot when you dropping the kids to school? Even if someone makes it to the age 0f 40 in the hood without having been shot/stabbed/assualted/stripped naked randomly, they aint been left unscarred. Every member of the hood, gangster or not, physically wounded or otherwise has felt the hood's impact. If you aint been shot, then there's a good chance your best friend has. If you aint been carjacked, again, there's a chance that your mode of transportation has gone, thanks to your friend being carjacked. You've seen the stories of kids getting shot in crossfire, you've seen the actual thing happen in front of your damn face and still, you didn't bat an eyelid like someone in Beverly Hills viewing it undoubtedly would. Why? Because that's just how it is. Kids get shot, they see syringes and play with them. Old people get burgled, they see guns being shot and die on the spot from the BOOM of the bullet quickly soaring towards its condemned from birth victim. It's just the code of the hood, the ghetto's way of remaining relavant as a source of revulsion for the rest of America. If someone aint getting shot, we aint being featured and feared by those tax paying chumps up in Wisconsin so **** it, im finna put two in the next guy i see who look at me weirdly.

Ultimately, the ghetto is a representation of a political and education system whose main accomplishments are its ability to remain existent despite its overwhelming failures.

Ideas for the next review - review love, pubs or the library..... or something entirely different.
