    Economics or dentistry?
I'm a Y12 student at the moment and I need to decide what I want to do at University!! I've done quite a lot of work experience at a dentists BUT I'm really really good at Economics, however my Maths is slightly weaker (Just about got an A in Core 1 at AS Level). Anyone have any way to help me to decide? Thanks!

Hey dude, I am a qualified dentist. Read my long post "A warning to all those who dream of being dentists"....

Please stick to economics...dentistry is NOT a good thing to go into right now.

All professions have their lows, you're not going to find a perfect career with only positives!

At degree level, these two statements are mutually exclusive.

Have you done any work experience in the finance sector that may help you decide.

i'm in the exact same situation, i keep changing my mind however:

economics could mean working long hours whilst if in the future if you happen to own your own dental practice then you could arrange/ decide your own working hours.

dentistry though can be monotonous however, lots of fillings for eg - doing the same work day in day out / however, it depends on your staff, if you have fun team who's company you enjoy them i guess dentistry would be more enjoyable.

dentistry involves a lot of chem and bio so if you like that stuff then at uni it would probs be good

dentistry is more practical that many jobs so if u like using your hands it would perhaps be more enjoyable

YOU COULD ALWAYS DO DENTISTRY HOWEVER IF YOU LOVE ECONOMICS IT COULD BE A HOBBY OF YOURS.

OVER WORK EXPERIENCE I SHADOWED A DENTIST IS NOW TRYING TO BECOME A POLITICIAN - RUNNING TO BECOME THE LOCAL MP. ???? idk
