Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.
it might be something to do with the wider gene pool, the fact that they might have the 'best of both' genes, or possibly the fact that their features might be more 'average' and in proportion so are percieved as more attractive.
but generally i do think that mixed race people are more attractive, as in celebrities that i think are attractive are most often mixed race, as with friends/people i personally know. its not a massive proportion, but enough for it to have previously caught my attention.
then again it could just be that i find mixed race people more attractive/better looking because as people are saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! -
Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.I think there be two major reasons for that. One is what I've already mentioned (the whole, people like what's different, what's "exotic") and the second being, sadly that people still for some reason believe that the "white race" is superior. Eg. look at the "whiting-creams/lotions" coming out from the Indian-sub continent. It's all pretty sad. I thought the world and their people would have come further than that by now(Original post by jesse111)
In regards to to Mixed raced people being more attractive from what I've experienced alot of black boys/girls and Mixed raced people themselves seem to think that, Even though im mixed raced I dont really think we're the best looking as there are ''Good and Bad'' apples no matter what race and colour. And success wise every celebrity is seen as successful for some reason, and even then there are many many many more black and white celebrities than Mixed raced ones. And if you measure success, intelligence wise then thats bogus aswell, no race is smarter than another. But one advantage we have is that because most mixed raced people have parents from different nations they tend to be fluent in two or more languages.

Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive. It's not racist to be attracted to certain races more than others, or not at all. That's in your genes(Original post by Funtry)
I'll probably get called racist etc. but I'm not!
I find white girls more attractive than asians (Indian/oriental), Asians more attractive than mixed race, mixed race more attractive than straight up black. Just my honest preferences

Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.
Alot of people fail to recognise the drawbacks of being mixed race. Being both black and whtie (obviously from interracial parents) I have been susceptible to both sides of racism and also racism from those who are against - I hate to use the ignorant term 'inter-breeding'.

Light skinned people opt for tanning lotions, because it means that you can afford to holiday a lot ie: you have a bit of wealth
Dark skinned people wish to be lighter, because the lighter people in those areas are those that don't have to or didn't have to traditionally work in the blazing heat - again, a sign of wealth
Also, because of colonialism, it's possible that darker people wanted to be much lighter due to the fact that there used to be things that were off grounds to the localsLast edited by de_monies; 16-06-2012 at 00:27. -
Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive. You make true points, unfortunately, they [the thoughts] still prevail even though they are horribly outdated. Everyone can travel cheaply nowadays or can go to a tanning salon; likewise everybody burns, even pale rich people! People just care far too much about their skin colour in general.(Original post by de_monies)

Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.
... is it me or did the Daily Mail article only regard 'mixed race' as black/white people? What about people who are mixed European & Asian like me (or any other 'racially' mixed, for that matter) -__-

Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.Indeed. It's a shame. I tan though, just a bit. But that's because I'm pink..(Original post by QwentyJ)

Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive. The same if you look at South America, I remember watching a documentary about just that. They did DNA tests on people to see how many people were native, European and African, and surprisingly a major part of the "white" people had a quite high amount of african DNA while the "black" people had a suprisingly high amount of European DNA. (And sadly a quite low amount had native DNA)(Original post by Aaron_xyz)
A large portion of black Americans have white ancestry, and a large portion of white Americans have ancestors descending from multiple countries from Europe. Do they count as mixed race? -
Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.
I'm mixed race (white english father & black south african mother) and I love it. When I was in school in South Africa, everyone thought everyone liked me because I was 1/2 black and 1/2 white, like Hovis best of both bread
. When I came to school in England, chavs thought I was from Turkey or Pakistan so they called me paki and obviously my accent doesn't help because it's not your typical South African accent or your typical British accent lol.
From my experience in England, most people seem to think that I'm black even though I am not dark or light skinned. I guess England doesn't have a history with mixed race people compared to South Africa. -
Re: Are Mixed race people really more successful and attractive.
I'm mixed race and i'm no more attractive or successful than anyone who is of a single race that I know :P even when it comes down to having mixed genes and this apparently making a person healthier i've actually ended up with a genetically based problem because of my background! Don't let race concern you, just live your life.
