Ways to get to sleep?!
For a few nights now, I haven't been able to sleep, and when I have, its only been for about 3-4 hours then I have to get up for 6th form or work.
I was just wondering if there were anything I could try to get some sleep. I don't want to have any medication or anything, because I think it is simply my exams. I'm not worried about them though, I simply cant sleep :/
What do you do to try and get to sleep?!
Thanks

Re: Ways to get to sleep?!
I had problems with sleep due to exam stress. It helped me to get into a routine of shutting off screens (TVs, laptop, phone, etc) an hour before I wanted to sleep. Then I'd read or work by a dull light.
Just the act of shutting out harsh, artificial light helped encourage me to feel tired and ready for bed.
Hope this helps

Re: Ways to get to sleep?!
Maybe do some light exercise before bed... just enough to tire yourself a little - works for me
Also, a trick my mum used to use when I was small - Whilst lying in bed, imagine yourself in a calm place (eg. lying on a quiet beach in the sun), and just slowly keep adding to your surroundings, increasing the detail etc. Then just lie on 'your beach' thinking about other people (not your own problems) until you drift off. -

Re: Ways to get to sleep?!
I read, the act of following lines in white and black tires me out in 1 hour (if the book is boring) I'm dependent on books to sleep now though, so this might be a bad idea. Sometimes i close my eyes and make up patterns in my head then try to trace the same pattern again and again, it's monotonous(?) and i fall asleep quickly most times.

Music - I've slept with music for the last 99% of the nights since I became 10.
Lately these butterflies help me fall asleep

Re: Ways to get to sleep?!
I find it easy to sleep if I just leave my light on and read/watch something completely unrelated to exams whilst lying in bed. Works a charm but turning of the light before you actually sleep is a bit... difficult?
I guess you have to sleep earlier so someone can switch your light off before they sleep xD -

Re: Ways to get to sleep?!To be honest, I'll just close my eyes and count the number of times I breathe in and out. I never make it past 40 without falling asleep...
