    Nights out in Reading
This might be a bit off the topic of university, but I think you guys would be the best to ask about nights out!
first, what taxi companies are there in reading? And what's sort of price would you expect to pay?
I live about 13 miles out of Reading, and I'm worried a taxi would be horribly expensive! So knowing what taxi companies are around would be useful.
Thanks - and sorry it's not univeristy related!

    Hey,

I take it you are a student.

This is where I would go dependant on the night:

Monday - Q-Bar (do not go there too drunk, you will get kicked out!)
Tuesday - Sakura (although not great IMO)
Wednesday: Union (top night, but have to know someone in the uni to get in)
Thursday: Propaganda at Q-Bar or Sakura, Propaganda is better though
Friday: Vodka Revs at Revolution Bar(sometimes called Club Tropicana)
Saturday: Don't normally go out on a Saturday in town except the Union..

Taxi firms there are loads, I use Ace Cars. But if you live so far out might be worth getting a mate or finding someone who lives closer to at least stay in the morning, then you can get a train/lift/drive back!

I only remember two places in Reading - clubs called Washington Heights, and the big one called Utopia, which was a carbon copy of Eros in Enfield.

I'd stay clear of Sakura all the time. When it gets busy it is really clammy and not nice.

    Monday- Q
Tuesday- Haven't ever really been out- Lola Lo's?
    Wednesday- Union
    Thursday- Propaganda at Q
    Friday- Dogma/Revs (I prefer Dogma)
    Saturday- Union again

I only ever get a black cab with my mates back, or I walk if I cba to spend any money. A black cab usually costs a tenner but not sure for 13 miles away try Ace/Top cars?

I've not been out on student nights, as atm am not a student but I'm from/I live in Reading!!

Has a good variation of clubs on different nights of the week, Revs definitely, I like Sakura and Dogma can be pretty good...also a big fan of Rewind on Friday nights, and Yates is always good...also heard Lola Lo's is really good but not been yet!

As for taxi companies, there's either the black cabs, or ones that wait in the taxi ranks by the casino bridge which are cheaper than the black cabs...or company wise I use Top cars and Loddon cars. I only live about 5 miles from town and it costs me £8-£12 (£15 in a black cab)...boyfriend lives more like 10 miles away and he usually has to pay around £25 I think.

Depends where you live though, lots of buses run in and trains too that you can catch for at least the journey in.

When i was in halls Ace Cars did offers depending where you were and how close you was to town. from Wessex i payed £6 to get into town and I dont think it was anymore than £8.

But what everyones been saying is pretty true, Entourage Project do a night every day at a different club. Monday is Q, Tuesday Sakura, not sure on wednesday, i think Thursday is Sakura or lolas and Friday Revs.

Some alternate nights are either Revs on Monday's or a rock night at Dogma, lolas Tuesday, Q bar for Propaganda on Thursdays, Dogma do Vodka Love nights on Friday. Wednesday and Saturday are always Union nights.

But even after that you have bar mango, walkabout, yates, rewind, purple turtle etc so there is always something on a night out to fit your taste.
