    Diets
I know i'm probably going to get neg repped to within an inch of my life here but oh well.

If you dramatically cut a lot from your diet and only eat fruit i.e apples or just fruit and veg for say 3 weeks, will you lose much body fat if you do no excercise?

I'm doing a PGCE and honestly mean it, i have no time to do the excercise i want to do, as much as i would like to lose weight the normal, healthy way.

I was watching 'secret eaters' on Channel 4 the other day and the woman who presents it tried 'the apple diet' where she consumed only apples for about a week and only lost 1lb! BUT this may of been Channel 4's way of trying to stop people using these faddy diets but still - can this be right?

I know this wont be a long term fix but honestly, i just want to know if these extreme diets where you are allowed to eat but only fruit/veg etc actually work.

    Thank you.

I dunno about just eating fruit and veg, but here's my most recent diet tip - DRINK OXO CUBES! Haha it's really cold at the moment so when I get home I usually want something warm and savoury. So, rather than having pizza or something, I've been having an oxo cube dissolved in boiling water and it's basically like soup, really filling and flavoursome next to no calories in it though! Might make a nice alternative to apples :P

However, I guess it probably would work because you'd be having such a small amount of calories/fat/sugar. You wouldn't have much energy though x

Let's grant that you have no time for exercise.

You can still lose fat with zero exercise without following a stupid "eat nothing but apples" diet. Just eat normal, regular food but control portion sizes.

    From the sticky:
    Get a plate/bowl:

1/4 should be a good source of protein
1/4 should be a good source of carbohydrates
1/2 should be fruit and/or vegetables

A separate category isn't included for fats however many of the foods mentioned below do contain fats. Provided you eat a good and varied diet including foods such as oily fish, nuts, seeds, olive oil, animal products, etc you should have few, if any problems meeting your daily fat requirement.
Manipulate portions so as to gain/lose weight.

Eating nothing but fruit is not balanced. I would not recommend it. There are more sensible ways to lose weight, even if you have no time for exercise.

    ---------------

Now that's out the way, I can talk about exercise briefly. Exercise needn't take hours. Lots of people think you need to spend hours on the treadmill. That is not true. You can get a decent workout in a pretty short amount of time.

This, for example, will take 10 mins max!

Apples alone, have fun with severe deficiency.

I looked up that diet and on google it didn't come up with that much. Is it basically saying eating only fruit and veg is fine?

Absolutely NOBODY has "no time" for exercise. If you have time to post on TSR, you have time to exercise. Instead of typing these posts you could have been jogging for example.

Look up fruitarians, you can live on just fruit, long term and it seems they are fine. Or raw foodists who pretty much eat fruit, veg and nuts.

Though I don't really advocate it it doesn't seem like it will do you any major harm. though just eating apples or eating 80 bananas a day is pretty obvious ridiculous

I'm sorry but the course i am on exhausts me mentally and physically. I'm really not looking for people to tell me how to excercise and when i can do it, that really wasn't the question i asked. I asked about diets that work.

Well you'd be restricting yourself to eating just fruit and veg when there's really no need to. You can just eat under maintenance (with any food) and that's all that's required.

The only other factor in diets is general health but you don't seem all that bothered about that.

Because i want to loose weight in an unhealthy weight that makes me dumb? Right.

You are rude and every thread i seem to look on has negative, sarcastic and frankly rude comments on it. Then to pass judgement and call me 'dumb' - what is the need? Don't even bother replying to my posts if you think i'm dumb.

People like you make TSR half as fun as it should be.

Well stopping eating will have the desired effect, doesn't make it healthy. If you're physically exhausted by your course then that surely counts as exercise! If you're on your feet all day etc.

Sign up to MyFitnessPal.com, count your calories and exercise, and it tells you how much you should be eating in order to meet your goals. But the sad news is that diets that work in the long term aren't always as simple as cutting back on food- as you'd put the weight back on as soon as you started eating normally. But the website I recommended will see you on your way.

Not really. Just means i want to lose weight in an unhealthy way. Doesn't change my intelligence at all. Are you sure it's not you that's "dumb"?
