How can I say bye to my teachers without crying??
I've finished my GCSEs and leaving the teachers that taught me for 3 years but how can I gather up my emotions and not cry... I'm really emotional.

I honestly don't understand why people cry, yes it can be sad but it's their job and within a year or two they will have forgotten about half of you when they teach the next lot

Maybe don't say anything to them? If you've been a nice pupil to them, they'll know your feelings towards them, an extra goodbye isn't really necessary and sometimes just makes things awkward.

I've heard it's good to sniff onions - it stops you crying. Maybe hold a few cut up pieces in your hand and bring it to your eyes every now and then?

There is no shame in crying. Just say you've been chopping onions or something.

You'll be forever remembered as the onion sniffer

Nothing wrong with crying. When I left school there were loads of people crying. You won't be alone i'm sure

Getting a little teary eyed I'm sure will touch their hearts. But please practice your crying, don't be an ugly crier.
This is like somebody who seems to cry diamonds, I think this is a nice cry lol

Not sure about your school but in mine, we're always welcome to come back to see the teachers and staff so it's not the last time you'll see them

I've actually SEEN previous students just come back to say hi and let the teachers know how they're getting on etc.

    Um, it may sound harsh, but I think in that case it's very good you're leaving. It's not good to get that emotionally close to teachers, simply because they teach so many students that;

    1. They can't remember everyone, though everyone expects them to.
    2. The fact that they work with young people leaves them very vulnerable to false accusations / criticism.
    3. It's not fair on the other students for them to have favourites.
    4. They are human - they can't carry the emotional burdens of a hundred hormonal teenagers.

That's not personally about you - it's absolutely fine to be good friends with your teachers - it's just my experience with parents who are teachers. You sound a little too reliant on him.

Good luck with sixth form / the real world though! I'm sure you can go back and see them

"See ya" and then walk out.

You can always pop in and see them, you know. I've technically left VI Form now, but my teachers have said I'm always welcome for a chat. My form tutor is retiring and we've exchanged email addresses to keep in contact. It isn't like you'll never see them again; tell your teacher that you're grateful for his help over the year and ask if he'd mind you popping in for a chat. My Biology classes were forever being disrupted by ex-students coming into talk to my teacher (their old form tutor).

What - you are going to go into school smelling like a kebab? You wanna be remembered as the kid who smelt like a takeaway or the kid who got a bit upset because they are going to miss the teachers who made a big impression.

    Ask to keep in touch?
I'm still friends with one of my A-level tutors as she helped me out a lot and we now have the same job. I've also got one of my uni lecturers on FB and Twitter and we still talk even though I've left.
