TSR Summer 2012 Football Manager Network Game Official Thread
    Hi all,

    Spoiler:
    Show
My apologies for the delay in starting this thread.

Bob Paisley once said 'Football isn't a matter of life and death - it's much more than that'. One wonder what, if he lived today, Paisley would say about the TSR 2012 Summer Network Game...:holmes:

I'm rather nervous about trying to take control of this network game for the first time: last year's was supposedly of a very high quality and it would be lovely to have a game of equal standard this year.

If you are seriously interested in playing then please respond in this thread and send me a PM with your MSN details (if I don’t have you on MSN already, I have everyone from last year). For this network game, members who have played in past TSR FM network games/with high rep/post count/football forum regulars/my e-friends will be favoured - simply because they are more reliable and reliability is key in having an enjoyable FM network game. People do drop out though so if I put you on the reserves list you won't have to wait for too long hopefully.

    General Guidelines
    • We will be playing Football Manager 2012 with the 12.2.0 update patch.
    • We will be playing 6PM until 9 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will start at 5.30 for people to do their shiznit (tactics, press conferences, player interaction, etc) then continue the game at 6pm - unless anyone has any better suggestions.
    • We will be playing with force continue enabled after 30 seconds.
    • Don't play friendly matches. Set your Assistant Manager to take control of all friendly matches.
    • Set match highlights to 'key' only and watch them on the fastest speed possible. Disable all replays.
    • UNTICK TV MATCH TIMES SO ALL THE MATCHES RUN AT THE SAME TIME.
    • If another club offers you a job, you are more than entitled to take it.
    • If sacked, remake manager and take over team, if you wish to do so.
    • Transfer fees have to be paid 50% outright and without add-ons for appearances e.g. If a player costs £10m, £5m would have to be paid outright then another £5m over 24 months or whatever months. No add-ons based on how many appearances the player will make.
    • Placing a bid/declaring interest in another player’s player when they are not transfer-listed is not allowed, unless you have discussed it with them prior to the bid being placed/interest being declared and they are okay with it.
    • Failure to turn up to 4 consecutive sessions without a valid reason will result in you being kicked out of the game.
    • Consistently breaking the rules we have agreed upon will also result in you being kicked out of the game.
    • You will need Hamachi to in order to join the game. Instructions are below:

    Download here: http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/download

It only takes two mins to setup.

Once you are all setup, click join an existing network and enter the following details:

Network ID: Unconfirmed yet: I'll edit when it's set up

    Password: See above

    • These are guidelines, we won't stick strictly to some of these guidelines in some instances (e.g. when there's a crash). If we need to make a decision we will have a vote and the vote of the majority will win.

This thread is just to gather the amount of interest for now and then on Sunday 23rd June we will have one big ultramega MSN convo where we’ll decide what league we want to play and what times and people can raise any other issues (like if they disagree with any of the rules/guidelines above). If you can’t make it then use this thread to state your preferences. We won't start gaming on that night; I intend to start on the 1st July unless anyone has any objections For the sake of simplicity we’re going to do a traditional league.

Please vote in the poll for what league you'd like to play...

May the best man (ager) win. :woo:

    List thus far:
    KingMessi
    Rami101
    Colbert
    Point!
    Michaelking

Much as I would love to join, I think I'll be lacking due to the sheer number of nights I'll be working - if I think I have time later on (and a laptop rather than my ageing desktop) and there is space I may join then.

Shove me in as a reserve. :teeth:

Can you put me in reserve, low down the list? I'd love to play, but I can't be 100% relied upon because it's possible my health can fluctuate massively.

That OP is plagiarising me from last year :fuhrer:

Good luck, though. It's a shame a lack of evening time no longer allows me to play much FM, really will miss the fests, the moments of madness and the intense rivalries that develop. :nopity:

I'd love to join, never done the network game before! But 8-12 on 5 days every week is a little much
And even if I did want to join then my rep and post count probably won't be high enough.
I have a question though, by choosing the league does that mean that the 20 participants would each have to select a premier league team each?

A random draw is done usually.

Last year it was the Bundesliga that was voted for rather than the Premier League too.

Regarding the amount of time we spend playing, we can always decrease it to three nights a week if that's preferable for people?

We can always decrease the schedule if it means we'll get more people in.

And postcount and rep isn't really an issue, so long as we're assured you won't cheat, troll or be permanently absentee, you're fine.

What exactly constitutes trolling a game of FM?

I'll keep an eye on this thread, if you do decide to play 3 nights because you can't get enough people for 5 then i'd definately interested.

I don't know. Trolling the chat? Throwing games 8-0 for the  's or because you favor someone? :erm:

Put me in reserve please. I'll only decide if I want to play depending on which league is chosen.

The other thing with the poll is that I would do another one to decide which league with the people who are actually going to play in it as you have so many morons popping in to the thread solely to vote for the Premier League just because of some moronic desire to have it voted top for everything
