Re: Law Applicants 2013All A*AA/AAA.. you confident with your results/predictions?(Original post by deano0417)
Im applying in 2013 aswell and I am applying to Cambridge/Oxford depending on results and my 4 others are Bristol/UCL/Warwick/Nottingham. -
Re: Law Applicants 2013I've booked Newcastle, Sheffield, Surrey, Leicester, Leeds, Aberystwyth. I'm going to book Southampton, York, Kent, and Reading.(Original post by emanuela15)
11? Where?
I'm doing a summer school next Thursday and Friday at the UEA, which is the 11th uni so I wont need to go to the open day.
Depending on grades I may well go to the Bristol open day instead of Leicester, or if grades go the other direction Hull instead of Leeds -
Re: Law Applicants 2013
I should get AAAA for AS my predictions are AAAB but mainly due to me being a lazy student within class but then performing in exams
, my teachers have told me they will change those predictions if I do well on these exams we have just finished. I am fairly doubtful about Cambridge/Oxford but I think the others are within my reach as long as I do well on the LNAT

Re: Law Applicants 2013Yeah there's different types of international study you can do(Original post by emanuela15)
...Tempting. Very tempting indeed lol
Did you ask any questions about the year abroad?
3 year LLB (M100) law course, with an additional year abroad
4 year LLB (M120) Law with International law, with a year in chosen university. (I'm thinking about Barcelona ;D )
Or the LLB with a year in Spain / France but you study in that language, so it's for those taking a language.
For the year away the Dr said it was around £2000 for the year, and is really beneficial to your studies as it helps with dissertations and cross referencing etc.
He also mentioned about a government subsidy paid to UK students studying abroad which makes the trip almost free, but don't quote me on it because i'm not too sure what he said haha. -
Re: Law Applicants 2013I'm not sure if you're aware but the M100 is a course for graduate 'senior status' entrants only.(Original post by JLXP)

Re: Law Applicants 2013Are you sure? Just done a quick google search and M100 tends to be the normal LL.B for most unis(Original post by Zedd)

Re: Law Applicants 2013Lol I've already made it my goal to get a part time job when I get to uni, I don't know how I'll pay for my year abroad otherwise(Original post by JLXP)

Well hopefully doing all that should help you limit your choices...right? -
Re: Law Applicants 2013I might be wrong, but it seems like Sheffield is your 'back up' there. This year, some very good law schools were in UCAS Extra (Birmingham, Exeter, Sheffield, Newcastle, Southampton, etc) So whilst it's risky, it might be good to consider just putting another top choice and hoping for the best, since if worst came to worst, you'd probably be able to get into somewhere like Sheffield via Extra. Also, a lot of the time people regret putting in a safety choice, as if that ends up being their only offer, they feel the urge to re-apply or never anticipated getting four rejections.(Original post by Kidioteque)
Count me in
All depends on grades really, although if I don't get good enough AS results to apply to AAA unis I'm gonna take a gap year. My list at the moment is Cambridge, Durham, Bristol, Warwick and Sheffield. -

Durham - A*AA LNAT
Bristol - I think still AAA LNAT
Warwick - AAA
Sheffield - AAA (inc General Studies)
You'll get your grades. -
Re: Law Applicants 2013
I got straight A*s at GCSE and A*A*AA at A level so could have gone for somewhere like Oxbridge or Durham or LSE/UCL but that wasn't the kind of experience I wanted from university. From my experience I know that just because you have good grades it doesn't mean you should feel you ought to go for these kinds of universities. Law degrees are very similar wherever you go Russell-Group wise and a high 2.1 from any good law school will set you in good stead. Remember that places like Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester also want A*AA or AAA!
Make sure that whichever law school you pick, it is somewhere you truly want to spend three years and somewhere you feel comfortable. From friends in older years studying there I have heard that London uni's tend to be very dominated by international students who often don't have or want the same work-life balance as most UK students. And the Oxbridge/Durham experience is not at all the same as what you will get at other good redbrick universities!
