Re: The best part of studying mathematics
As much as I love maths, I wouldn't agree with your statement saying that being better at maths equates to your being smarter necessarily.
There are people I know that do not study Maths, and I would say are a lot smarter than some of the people I know who study it.Your statement is one that can be easily proven. It doesn't hold true for 'everyone'. You should be ashamed to call yourself a mathematician if you going around making such preposterous statements.
The joy of mathematics is the satisfaction of problem solving. Not this arrogant rubbish you're spewing. -

The best part of studying mathematics is that you know you're smarter than everyone else. Do you agree? -

The best part of studying mathematics is seeing an elegant proof imo.
As mathematician you should know that being smarter than everyone else is statistically improbably because there are over 7 billion people on the planet, and you couldn't possibly asses every single person who doesn't study maths to determine their intelligence compared with people who do.
Also Stephen Hawking.Last edited by kingkongjaffa; 17-06-2012 at 17:35. -

I've seen your posts, OP. About mathematics, and non-mathematical subjects, and believe me. You especially are not smarter than anyone. -
Re: The best part of studying mathematicsis smarter than everyone so OP's argument is invalid.(Original post by thomaskurian89)
