You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

Eating 12 meals a day has been scientifically proven to improve protein absorption by 20% (compared to 6 meals-per-day diet plans).

Further recent studies have revealed that the human body can absorb up to 100g of protein per hour. I personally use a 12 meal-per-day plan to ensure I absorb 1200g (1.2kg) of protein on a daily basis. On rest days I eat 14 meals over 14 hours, eating 1400g (1.4kg) of protein to ensure optimal recovery.

Dude, you haven't seen the latest news - the fact is that on a sliding scale, the more often you eat, the better the protein absorbtion - period.

Studies indicate that this functions as a continuum so that the best policy is to ingest your food constantly on a drip or rectally via a colonic pump

I'm confused. This one has more calories and fats but a lot more protein as well. My physique is skinny fat

^^That stuff's great. Not to everyone's taste, but it's really nutritious.

If you're just looking to bulk, and cut later then just get the calories and protein. Cottage cheese is a bit overkill unless you're trying to lean bulk or cut.

I'll have it on workout days and Quark the rest of the time...the best of both worlds. I guess I am trying to lean bulk, cant afford to put on any more weight. But the rest of my diet is fruits, vegetables, skimmed milk, eggs, nuts and wholemeal bread/pasta.

will i gain weight eating like this? its been my diet for the past couple of weeks :/

breakfast-5 tablespoons of porridge, made with water and a chopped apple
lunch-usually 2 boiled eggs or a can of tuna with salad and low calorie dressing
dinner-usually fruit salad (two bananas, apple, nectarine etc)
snacks-around 3 or 4 bananas, 2-3 apples. and around 2 low calorie hot chocolate drinks (38 cals each)

are the hot chocolates going to cause weight gain? i work as a waitress for around 5 hours a day, so constantly walking, carrying plates etc.

Yes. That 76 calories, the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of an eight stone woman by less than 1.5 degrees will cause you to balloon like a whale.

Seriously; you could burn that off by walking a mile or so.

I have quite a distorted view on food right now, and just wanted to know truthfully peoples thoughts on my current diet.

I was trying to put it in perspective for you. You know full well that that is a borderline anorexic diet and I am sure that you also know full well that a paltry 76 calories is a tiny fraction of the energy that even a sedentary 8 stone soaking wet woman would require each day. I would probably burn more than that by opening the window and sleeping with no covers.

One way to look at it objectively is, with the help of google, to work out how many calories you would be getting in total and to work out how much protein, carbohydrates and fats you are getting and also try to work out over each week how many different types of vitamins and minerals you are getting. You can then compare these figures with some standard published guideline of nutrition requirements.

I have to agree with the above poster to be honest. With a diet like that, gaining weight should be the last of your worries. Unless you're overweight you won't be able to keep your body running healthily on that. What's your weight and height?

    (Original post by wholenewworld)
    Hi Choc,

for the past two weeks I have been eating either maintenance or more (on exercise days). I have been eating the recommended one g per pound of body weight protein amount with plenty of carbs, yet I have awful symptoms (lethargy, inability to concentrate or care, anxiety or short temper). When I really couldn't take it anymore (after 3 days) I reduced protein intake that day (around 60g) and that day I was normal. I am sorry but the correlation just seems so strong. I have no problems whatsoever if I eat less protein. Chronic stress can't just disappear like this?

I know you don't believe in this, but I simply can't think of anything else that could account for my symptoms
    http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nut...ession-qa.html

I feel I am in a bind as for the v heavy lifting I do, I feel I should be consuming more protein than 1g per kg yet I feel like a zombie if I do.
I felt like this too. I felt like a zombie and unable to care about anything or concentrate. Identical. Either way I cut my total down and I feel good again. Everything is going fine as well

Unless you look in the mirror and you are actually visibly fat in places then you don't need to diet at all. You would probably benefit more from lifting weights to get more of a shape, and yes, muscle shape will show through fat to an extent. You don't even have that much fat.

The best diet you can get is a-level exams if you work hard. I managed to lose 6 kg in 2 weeks, implying i ate everything i could, for example i was in pizza hut or equavalent every day.
Great answer. I wouldn't advise you try it though!!

i can't really afford to go to the gym and lift weights would swimming help? i just wish my lower stomach would have less fat, and my inner thighs. is there something you would reccomend as substitutes for weights? thanks.

Swimming would only help as a form of cardio. There are no substitutes for weights. Bodyweight work and plyometric work like jump squats, pullups, pushups etc can substitute for weights but only to a small extent, beyond that you're not providing enough resistance.

Bit of a tangent, but out of interest: How much evidence is there for and against the lipid hypothesis, and if it is a potential myth, are all saturated fats to be considered 'healthy', or only those found in lauric acid from coconut oil etc.?
I mean I'm aware low-fat isn't the whole story because it virtually discounts EFAs, but I'm especially interested in whether sat. fat deserves the bad rep it gets.

I'm not up to date with the literature, so I won't speak on dietary fat, but I do remember seeing a study that showed a link between dietary saturated intake and testosterone production, specifically in those partaking in weight-training.

Ok. What kind of regime would you reccomend then to increase muscle? like how much should i be lifting, what kind of routine? sorry, i dont know much about using weights. and because i eat porridge for breakfast and then something like tuna salad for lunch, would eating fruit for dinner be bad for my weightloss? like the excess sugar? im finding myself binging on fruit, as i dont want to eat after work (waitressing means i get home at 10-11pm) thanks. sorry for all the questions.
