    Re: am i eating enough?
I eat nothing compared to that though everyone says I eat hardly anything, but then I suppose I dont workout much.
Although if your meal sizes are small and you continue with your 6 meals a day that is good as it will keep your metabolism perfect for losing weight.
I do recommend however drinking more water and as the above said eating more protein and less sugar. You should google the results of people going on a sugar free diet, i know its maybe a bit extreme but the weight slips off them quickly.

    Re: am i eating enough?
You're eating your 3 meals a day, plus 3 snack meals on top. To me that seems a lot - I eat my 3 meals a day with no snacking in between in order to lose weight. However, I don't know how big your meals are or how much exercise you're doing so it's difficult to give an answer. You should work out your BMR and use something like myfitnesspal to track your calories and exercise.

    Re: am i eating enough?
i forgot toadd that i drink a lot of water. i constantly have a glass of water on the go at work. id say about 3 glasses a day and another 3 when im at home.

more protein and less sugar:ill take that on board, thank you. i rarely let myself feel hungry for a long time, and im always content and full after eating so i dont think im doing anything wrong.

i do circuit training twice a week, fitness dvds, gym and jogging.

i just dont want to lose muscle more than anything:\
i want to be strong and defined( trying to avoid the word 'toned' lol)

If anything I'd say you're eating slightly too much. Cut the snacks or replace them with healthier alternatives. Try and avoid cereal bars, kievs etc because they have no nutritional value.

What are the portion sizes? When you say '1 grilled chicken' do you mean one grilled chicken breast, or one actual grilled chicken?

    Total calories?
    Total protein,carbs and fats?
Why so little fruit and vegetables?
^Subsequently are you supplementing a multivit?
And of course, the obligatory, do you even lift?

Sorry it wasn't very detailed, i am on this diet but i should calculate the calories etc. I do have fruit and veg throughout the day and during dinner and I haven't considered multi vit yet, could you recommend any?

Since i've been quite skinny my whole life i'm just trying this diet out to see if i gain any weight before i join the gym (in about 1 week - i know i probably won't in that amount of time though). I'll have a personal trainer helping me though.

by chicken i meant 1 chicken breast. Chicken's pretty much the only meat i'm eating atm, because people told me red meat is not good to have every day, and i can't stand fish. Do you think that's ok?

    building muscle...
    hi,
im currently around 55kg and a very small frame for an 18 year old.
im going to the gym every other day and doing weights etc at home. im taking http://www.boots.com/en/Maximuscle-P...ry-800g_51870/ at breakfast and after the gym whilst eating as much protein, 'good' carbs, fruit veg etc. I just have a few questions:

-how long is recommended at the gym everyday?
-is the protein powder im taking any good? and should i take it at different times because ive heard taking it before bed can be good?
-am i eating enough protein throughout the day? (i normally have one chicken breast, 2 eggs, oats and a different fish) is this too little do you think?
    - and do i drink the protein shake as normal on days when i dont exercise?

    - Depends what you do
    - Yes, although it's overpriced. You can find the same quality protein powder for a fraction the price
    - No
    - Yes, assuming you aren't getting enough through real food and you need to supplement your protein intake

    Re: building muscle...
What you are eating is fine and if you are training every other day thats fine too.
How often are you eating? If you are trying to put on weight i recommend eating every 90 mins to 2 hours.
I started this in january and in the first month 5 weeks alone put on a stone of muscle. I was taking Usn Muscle Fuel Anabolic, training 4-5 times a week and incorporating combine movements into my workouts as much as possible (power cleans, deadlift, front squat).
If you have a fast metabolism i'd suggest eating every 90 mins but if not every 2 hours. Its not the quantity you eat, its better to balance plenty of small meals through the day so your body gets used to the amount of food/protein.
This is how i did it
    8am Porridge (60g) + Shake
    10am Tuna+Potato
12 Wholemeal bagel with peanut butter
2pm (pre workout) 45g Porridge(with honey) or Alpen for energy
    4.30pm Shake (post workout)
    6.30pm Chicken + Rice
8.30pm Boiled Egg + Wholemeal Bread.

I found this a little expensive but look for the bargains! Iceland is a godsend!
Sorry for the LONG post but i hope this helps. Keep lifting bro!!

I too think you eat a lot, particularly the bowl of cereal after your workout - why undo all the good work? Plus do you weigh out that bowl and the one you have in the morning? If not you're more than likely to overestimate the portion.

Your morning snack sounds more like lunch, and having two cooked meals in a day could be bad as I doubt they'd be under 400 calories each. Custard is really fattening too so cut that out, plus you don't have nearly enough fruit and veg either by the looks of it.

    Personally I use Alpha Men
    http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/alpha_men

Assuming you don't want to just get plain old fat, gaining weight is a slow process, you won't notice too much/anything in a week.

There's nothing wrong with red meat, unless you have some medical condition it could exacerbate? I used to think I hated fish, then I learnt how to cook it/make it more interesting.

Do you spend less than half of any 24 hour period awake?

If not, you need to be eating when you get up (several hours before 11, you would assume).

i cant eat fruit only vegetables. i know custard is really sugary and fattening so ill be cutting that out. i use sweetener in my tea so whenever i do have real sugar in my tea it tastes too sweet. im really trying to cut out sugar in my diet slowly. but when i go out i drink sugary alcopops.hmmmmm, cant win:\

    Improve or change my diet?
    Breakfast
2 Weetabix with Semi Skimmed milk
    Baby banana
    Green tea

    Mid morning
Small bowl of strawberries with low fat Greek yoghurt

    Lunch
Scrambled egg with chopped onions and rocket salad with teaspoon of tomato ketchup, two Ryvita rye crackers
    Green tea

    Snacks
    Apple
Couple of handful of nuts (hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews)
More green tea and a glass of water

    Dinner
Stir fry (egg noodles, stir fry salad, Sweet chilli sauce)

    Dessert
    Strawberries with Greek yoghurt again

I'll then have some more fruit later

    Exercise
    Lots of walking

Any ways I can improve my diet? Can I add /take away anything?
    I am 5"5, 150lbs size 12/14 and I want to slim down to a size 10
By the way, I'm not a vegetarian

 If you're not a vegetarian then where's the meat?

Swap some fruit for some veg (less sugar and more/ better range of nutrients), plus veg is also more nutritious than salad, and shove some meat in there. It's filling and fuels your body with vital amino acids and essential fatty acids.

Do you plan on changing/ adapting your exercise?

You could try eating quorn, it's got a lot less fat than meat n it's still a good source of protein. You can get pieces of quorn, add some into your stir fry
