Hm. I really just feel like i know **** all in biology. But then again, for the last 3 exams i've felt the same way + come out with B's

However this time it's my own fault. I can't find myself motivated to do Biology revision anymore;/

This is the plan my teacher gave us:

    - In respiration- glycolysis
    - Active transport
    - Ions in neurones
    - resting potentials
    - Synapses (regeneration of neurotransmitter)
    - Uptake of sodium and glucose by co-transport protein in the gut
    - Muscle contraction- make myosin heads return to normal position and reabsorb calcium ions back into sER
    - Movement of flagellum of sperm (?)
    - Protein synthesis- activates amino acids/ condensation reactions e.g glycogen synthesis

    -Endodermis ions into xylem
    - Root hair cells uptake of some ions by active transport
    - Nitrogen fixation
    - Photosynthesis- LIR- ATP used to convert GP to TP
    -Regenerates RuBP
    -ATP needed in cell division

Hope that helps Pick out whatever makes the most sense to you
    Thanks so much!

Ahhh complete opposite of me! I'm rubbish at writing about proteins XD but let's say one should be proteins and one should be inorganic ions :P I wouldn't mind ATP or variation either...Ecology is gonna be a nighmare for me.
ATP would be really good, since most things use it - I'm hoping for ATP just for the off-spec marks!

As for ecology, nightmare just doesn't do it justice!

You remind me of myself LOL, I don't even know what I'm doing in bio anymore but since you have those B's you should go in for the kill this time (Oh God COD language). We've just got a few more days to go and then you're free to do whatever you like

Plus football is on today, I don't think I'll be revising at that time :3

Yeaahh I think loads of people are hoping that ATP comes up...cycles would have been a great one to do...the people who got that were lucky. Think AQAers were in a good mood when they gave that one out

    Nightmare is defo an understatement

I'd Rather have inorganic Ions than proteins TBH

You can right about alot of different stuff for inorganic ions

You sound like my kind of girl!

I've got 3 exams this week. Need a massive A in one, and a mid C in other. Need a mid C in bio too, but, just, omg, can't be assed!

Haha, magic words of COD and football XD

Ohhh good luck on the massive A but you should be alright with the mid C's. It's hard to tell with bio though because the mark scheme is so ridiculous sometimes. Really annoys me -.- ESP the how science works -__-

Yea. I managed to pick up on how to answer questions early on in sixth form luckily.
I struggle with just learning sequences though. It's so much easier when the sequences we have to learn can be worked out using basic principles like in Maths or Chemistry as opposed to just remembering steps word for word =(

I pray for enzymes/proteins but know that won't happen.
How would you plan/write that essay?

Erm well so far in lessons i've made a spider diagram and writing down anything i come up with. Then once you start the essay you can kind of link things together and just tick of what you include so you're not repeating. Other's may have a better idea than this

Ahh yes totally hear you on that one. Plus there's sometimes many things you can put down for one question but which is the right, is hard to tell. Maths and Chem you kinda just know what the straight answer is gonna be.

Hopefully this exam is gonna be alright though...everybody is counting on it to be a good one. Thought June 11 was an alright paper.

Is an essay on 'how bacteria affect human lives' a bit too narrow? All I can think of is in genetic engineering (plasmids, host cell, DNA polymerase), nitrogen cycle and carbon cycle. Anything else?

cholera, you could talk about the structure of prokaryote's, mutation in a gene results in resistance - vertical, horizontal gene transmission - so more likelihood of catching an illness

thats all i could come up with. hope it helped you

What would you write for inorganic ions? I can think of Ca2+ in muscles, Na+ and K+ in nerves and ammonium/nitrites/nitrates in the nitrogen cycle, but I've reached a dead end there...
Along with what you have I also have:
-Osmosis in root hair cells requiring active transport of ions (K and nitrate)
-Photosynthesis (Mg ion in chlorophyll, photolysis and H+ ions)
-Phosphate ion phosphorylating glucose in glycolysis and also co-enzymes and H+ ions
-Fe3+ ions attached to haem (haemoglobin) to attach to 4 O2 molecules
-Ca+ ions also in synapses and to make membrane permeable for inserting a plasmid
-and finally chloride ions involved in making the epithelial membrane moist (cholera chapter)

Just thought another couple of little points for inorganic ions - iodine/iodide is used in testing for starch and copper (II) ions are used in Benedict's/Biuret tests.
Not the best points you could come up with but probably useful if you need any more
