For starters it'll be bloody expensive; my cousin just started medicine there last year and she has to pay the equivalent of around £35000 p.a. for tuition + accommodation.

Can you speak Hindi and also any dialect of the area you would be in ?

if not then definitely not, to be a competent medical student you need to be able to communicate with patients fluently.

If so, then maybe, a lot of things to consider.

If it was me deciding I'd base it on whether the degree that you may achieve in india will hold the same weight here because to my knowledge a lot of graduates from overseas tend to have to do other courses before being allowed to work here.

If this isn't the case and you're all right with the cost go for it!

If you do have to do other courses or you think employers may favour somebody with a uk education - wait a year and apply again.

Honestly, the only countries I'd personally feel comfortable studying medicine in (aside from the UK) would be Ireland or France. Are you planning to come back here once you're qualified? You'd have to sit the PLAB afaik...so why don't you stick to EU schools?

Could you please explain more about PLAB afaik??For what do you do that for?

As I am an asian,My dad prefer me to study in one of the countries in Asia,I almost prefer that too.Either I would like to do in Uk or in India. As it is very competitive in Uk compared to India and also I had to wait one more year if I want to study here(if I Choose India I can start this september itself),That is why having these thoughts about doing in India

But not sure how bad studying in india after studying in uk.
I used to hate studying in india but now it is because i am that much in to medicine,I dont mind anything!

I really want to do medicine,I don't want to miss it!

I'd advise against studying in India. You'd have to pay heaps of money, it'll be hard to understand the language, the exams are much harder than over here, the quality of life isn't very good etc.

When you come back here, hospitals will always give preference to UK qualified doctors, and you'll be pushed around the country for years before you find a consultant post. You'll have to take the PLAB, which is a very hard exam. Most people fail it. There will be so many barriers put in your way that it's just not worth it.

I'd say study in the EU, that way you don't have to take the PLAB. Also, the following countries are exempt from the PLAB: South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia. Maybe you could consider applying to one of those? All of these countries are much better developed than India, and have much better medical training programmes, which is why they are exempt from PLAB in the first place.

(Btw if you want to be with Asians, then all of those countries have a lot of Asian migrants. South Africa has by far the most though, with over a million Indians living there. I, for one, am the descendant of Indian migrants to SA).

I mean if you are asian than you probably know that part of World more than anyone in the UK. Have you ever been to India though? If yes and you liked it, than go for it. But I would also suggest to actually visit the place where you want to study, just like you would do an Open Day in here or looking at the course structure and facilities of the place. Why dont you contact the universities there? http://www.topuniversities.com/unive...ences/medicine in this table there is no Indian uni, but it may still be worth considering. This table that Ive found http://www.timeshighereducation.co.u...2012/asia.html actually mentions the uni in Bombay. Id say just do the research online or try to find someone whi studied medicine in there. Also, I dont know where you are from exactly so this might not be possible for you, but maybe consider your home country?

I do agree with all what you have said.It is going to be really difficult for me to live there and also the teaching methods when I compare with the teaching in here. But i am a bit worried what If i dont get a uni here next year,i will not have any choice and i might drop the idea of doing medicine which I dont want to do it.And when I consider my parents, they are paying me so if i wait 1 more year I will be doing msc and then medicine,I will be a big burden for them which i dont want to be.I have my younger siblings as well so they have to pay them aswell .one of them has already started medicine in here so it will be difficult for them as I am an international student I have to pay a lot even in here so dont know which is a good idea,to do here or in India although i am not going to like the life style in there!

The PLAB is the exam for doctors who've qualified outside of the EU. It's pretty expensive and not everyone passes it, in fact quite a lot of candidates fail and have to keep paying to resit several times.

You didn't really answer my question: are you looking to practice in the UK? Or India? If you want to end up living and working in the UK as a doctor, you would really be saving yourself a lot of hassle by going to a British med school (or EU if you can't get in here). Surely your dad can appreciate that?

If you can get into a UK medical school, then 100% apply here. You might think losing a year is a lot, but believe me qualifying in India well set you back by at least 5 years when you come back here.

As has been mentioned before, you should look at the EU or PLAB exempt countries. Qualifying there will save you so much hard work later on.

I dont mind working in back home, definitely not in India.I prefer working for my own people but would like to work here(in Uk) few years after graduating in India as want be a qualified doctor.I dont think,I will even think about doing something in India after graduating,if I get a chance would like to work here in Uk and then will work for the people in back home, dont know how much it is possible.
It is not the worst studying in India right?,particularly when talking about the qualification

India is very competitive for home applicants, but it is less competitive for international applicants. Like over here, they have reserved seats for internationals. But no one takes takes them up, for obvious reasons.
