Re: Selfish to send your child to private school, or selfish not to?5 hours is plenty if it is one on one. The price below that tuition would only be harming the middle class families who scrimp and save to put their kids through private education.(Original post by Torpedo Fish)
I was basing my calculation on 6 hours of teaching per day. My school started at 8:45am and finished at 4:15 with a 1 hour lunch break and a half an hour morning break. And what you would be doing there is essentially forming your own private school, which would not be permitted. -
Re: Selfish to send your child to private school, or selfish not to?Plenty it may be, but I was talking about the cost of providing the same amount of teaching time as would be provided by a full-time educational institution, which is six hours per day, not five.(Original post by ForKicks)

Re: Selfish to send your child to private school, or selfish not to?What? From forming their own private schools? Well aside from making it illegal, I don't suppose you could. But the same could be said of all other illegal activities.(Original post by im so academic)

Re: Selfish to send your child to private school, or selfish not to?Employing a private tutor to tutor your child at home under the guise of "homeschooling". What are you going to do? Ban homeschooling?(Original post by Torpedo Fish)

Re: Selfish to send your child to private school, or selfish not to?
It isn't selfish to give your kids the absolute best if you can afford it.
I do think that as a parent it is selfish if you can afford to give the best and also afford your children a better life but not give it to them.
Granted it is not always the case that sending a kid to a private school is giving them the best.
