in massive pain, feel like i got shot in my left lungi first felt this yesterday night but it was NOWHERE near as painful as it is now. i'm not a heavy smoker, i average at like a joint and a cig per day. my older brother's lung has collapsed 3 times so far and i'm worried it's happening to me too
50% of the time i breathe in i feel a sharp pain on the left side of my chest (lung? heart?). i've been laying down on my bed all day because every time i try to move i feel like my lung/heart is tensing up like crazy, and i stop breathing for like a second
anyone know what's going on? -

Re: in massive pain, feel like i got shot in my left lunghmm well if your brother has had a collapsed lung i would suggest going to the doctor in case it somehow runs in the family?
but recently i kept getting this really sharp pain in my left too which i thought was my lung and it made breathing painful, but after a while it stopped (like a week or something) but the pain wasnt so severe as yours sounds. But maybe panicking about it makes it worse?
Get it checked out asap is my advice, but not to worry in the meantime -

Re: in massive pain, feel like i got shot in my left lungOr... instead of A&E call up NHS direct, they can give you advice and will tell you to go to A&E only if it is necessary, saves the risk of getting there and having to wait ages before finding out it is nothing.

the problem is going to A&E means i'd have to walk half an hour. i'd die like 15 times in the process. i made a thread on TSR because i thought since i've been doing nothing but laying down with this laptop on my chest all day (can't even masturbate by the way, scared of getting a heart attack) i might aswell make a lil thread. you really don't have to be so patronising lol(Original post by Bellissima)

Sounds like a pneumothorax ..go A&E?
Edit: People who have pneumothorax would be in such a severe pain that they couldn't post a thread on TSR
my brother said if my lung did collapse i'd know within 10 minutes
