How do you get a scared squirrel out of your room?
This morning, i was shaken awake by my younger brother, screaming that there was a squirrel in our house. I dismissed this as yet another rendition of one of my crazy dreams. However, it soon transpired that this wasn't case as i could hear my mothers hysteric voice in the background. I reluctantly rolled out of bed and made my way downstairs. The scenes that greeted me were shocking. I could barely recognise my own living room. Vases had been smashed, the plants had been dug up, there were CD's on the floor in every direction, the sofa had been ripped, the lights weren't working and the carpet had been torn.

The poor thing had accidentally made it into the house and despite our best efforts, couldn't find the exit. It's now curled up in my study behind a bookcase and will not come out. The windows are all open and i've left a trail of nuts leading to the window but it hasn't moved for an hour. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Mr Ninja Squirrel is now free. Thanks for your help and useful comments (well mostly )!

I would love this to be true.

Set a snare trap and have squirrel for lunch.
That or put on a good pair of gloves and pick it up.

Keep and train it. Make a Squirrel Ninja army. Take over the world.

    Or call the RSPCA.

Aww, I think it's too traumatised to do anything at the moment. It would probably be best to call up your nearest RSPCA and they can give you some advice on what to do or possibly come over and deal with it

Bold little sods arent they. I got one out by banging a glass bottle against the wall to scare it towards the window.

I tried that. I put on my fencing glove and went for it but it pressed itself against the wall and moved further back so i couldn't reach it. I offered it some bread first but apparently it wasn't hungry after eating half a home baked cake my mother had made yesterday. Damn you squirrel. I was saving that!

Unfortunately i don't have one and it's too cute to shoot. It keeps making these freedom squeaks every once in a while. The window is like a couple of yards away!

It's hiding, won't be able to reach it.

Might be worth asking someone on the keele forum i'd suppose if you left the windows open and vacated the house it'd eventually chill out and exit under it's own steam.
Plan b would be to dress up as a sexy lady squirrel and stand outside beckoning it.

I love how this is in the "Advice on Everyday Issues" section like it's a regular occurrence.

I would just open all the doors and windows and let it make it's own way out.

We have a big bag of mixed nuts, the ones you get in packets from Tesco so it should at least eat one type that i laid out.

Tried that wouldn't move for an hour +. I have an exam tomorrow so i need to use my study

Don't really fancy seducing a super squirrel, after what it did to the living room.

I think the best thing to do is to leave it looked in the study and let it go out the window when it wants... the poor little sod probably needs a good kip (after running around and destroying your lounge) and also needs to destress... probably the best thing to do

But it hasn't for over an hour, almost two now. I think a more proactive approach is needed.

Then wait until it's asleep, pick it up (MAY NEED GLOVES OR IT COULD BITE YOU!) and place it outside, then reflect on your good deed for the day.
