    CCEA Physics AS2
Anyone else sit this? Thought it was generally a tough paper in most parts

What came up? I sat it last year and it was great for marks.

Quite a lot actually. Counted up about 12 'worst case' marks. Hoping the scaling's generous as I'm sure everyone else is

yeah I sat it dis morning , I thought it was ok for most of the paper although I wasn't expecting the double slit experiment. How'd you find the last question?

    Last question was fine!

Hard? I thought that was way easier than the first paper to be honest.

I agree. But I think there were too many opportunities to lose marks in the explanation answers, I know I did anyway ha.

Sure if you lose 12 marks its still an A : P , any of use doing chemistry tomorrow?

I would argue that losing 20 marks would still make it an A!

Found it pretty ok in most parts, wasn't sure if the wave was 270 degrees out of phase or 90 degrees out of phase though..

I think it's 90, i had that exact same problem at the beginning of the year, i think it turns out that 270 degrees is the same as 90 degrees. What did you go for?

I think you may be right... I decided to go for 270 in the end, although I reckon they are similar, I did the January 2010 paper last night where they asked for the phase difference between two waves with one starting at zero and one at -1 and they had given it as 90 so I assumed that if it starts at +1 it would be 270, I think that it might depend on which wave you find the phase difference in respect to the other though in which case either might be acceptable! Glad to have it over with now though! Onto organic chemistry

Which refractive index was the right one to use? 1 over sin35 or just sin35?

I never though of it that way makes sense, I think it would be unfair if you didn't receive the mark , Yeah I can't wait to get it over and done with its my last exam, hopefully it's a kind paper.

Total internal reflection occurs only when the wave travels from
A more dense medium to a less dense medium, so the speed in B would have to be faster than in A, that only happens if you use sin C... Got that one wrong myself! Did you all take the triangle for the depth of A using the d*s/2 as the hypotenuse?

I did 1 over sin35 and I think it was 1.7 something , what did you write for using a ultrasound scan instead of other imaging techniques? Yeah I just did distance is equal to the speed multiplied by the time and divided by 2.

Hoping the same bluerun, seems a little less likely considering module one was relatively more easy than past years but who knows, maybe another easy-ish one to make up for the practical? :P

For the ultrasound I read it as " this 'form' of Ultrasound over other imaging techniques" so I assumed I could compare it with Amplitude scans, despite this everyone else that I know said that it was because there is no ionising radiation etc... I reckon I'll have lost the marks for that one! Got the coupling gel thankfully... Hopefully haven't lost more than 10 marks in total. Also the refraction speed question was only two marks thankfully!
