A2 students: how badly do you want to go to your chosen uni/do your course?
If you didn't get into your firm or insurance unis on results day (touchwood!) would you happily go through Clearing and go to another uni/do another course, or would you rather take a year out, re-sit some exams and re-apply in order to go to your chosen uni?

Year out. Go to spain. Learn Spanish. Get rejected again because both my Firm and insurance do not accept retakes.

i'd go into clearing and see what's there; if i don't like it i'll take a year out and think about applying again MAYBE

I'm already thinking of going through clearing. Depends who has the course i want and willing to accept me. If I don't get in then two options in mind
A2 retakes if college accepts me but also if its worth it ie just missed grades
Or apprenticeship . Leaning more toward ans apprenticeship then see where I am in 2 years or 1 and reapply then.

Badly want to get in to my firm/insurance
I have calculated that I merely need DDE in my 3 full A levels to get into my insurance, if I don't get in there - I'll give up on it

Ooh I thought this was a 'how happy with your insurance are you?' thread. If I didn't get into either there'd be a lot of crying and then I'd take a year out.

If I don't get into any of the unis that I want to go to, to do my course then I'll do a foundation course in that uni because it is in ucas extra :/

i would personally like to reccommend to people that they take a year out should they not meet their requirements!

i missed my offer last year and have got in this year. i now have a much better idea about uni, money, food, everything. i've worked for a bit and i'm much more independent. i'm much more clued up about things than my friends who have gone straight to uni. i'm happier, less tired and less stressed. i'm going to uni this year feeling like i actually want to; my mind is on doing as well as possible.

so if you miss your grades, keep your head up!

As I don't really want to go to my insurance (put down just for the sake of it, the only lower offer than my firm), missing my firm would mean lots of crying and a year of travelling around Europe, which might not be bad. And reapplying of course

Anyway, fingers crossed that we will get the grades!

I love my firm but I also like my insurance and I'll be happy wherever I end up. I genuinely can't wait to move out (I have an abusive brother) so it'll be Clearing.

If I can't get anything good in clearing then it'll be straight into the workforce, preferably tourism meaning being abroad, and trying to get independent as quickly as possible.

I have considered this... and i'd take a gap year then reapply for my firm and maybe have a look at even more unis...
If i don't get my firm i wont even accept my insurance, its my firm or nothing for me... I dont want to just 'settle' for something

I want to get in quite bad.

If I didn't I'd be cramming in more work experience, module resits and application boosting activities than you can imagine. I'd be pretty heartbroken though, i have my heart set on it and everything and I really have a lot of expectation hyped up for me to get in.

I don't know. I've had bad exams, let's just see.
