Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2
hi thanks for the january 2012 paper, will hopefully have a crack at that later, i am finding most of it kk other than some of the long energy questions and the vertical circle ones. i struggle to work out the actual direction of the centripetal force, my friends tell me it is a required force to treat it as going in the opposite direction as it actually goes. any tips?
i also have stats 2 on the same day so need to revise for that! -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2Don't know if you'll find this helpful, but there's a statistics 2 thread here; http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...856&p=38202024 I'm in the same position as you, M2 and S2 on the same day.(Original post by 5elsste)

Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2Wow, that sucks :'( I'd hate to have to do such different maths exams all at the same time- I'd find it really hard to switch my head into the right gear! Luckily, at my college we did D2 last year, and M2 and S2 this year. Anyway, good luck! Hope all goes well

Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2I did stats all last year, and this year it's all mechanics, so I have mechanics 2 and 3 on Thursday and Friday :P(Original post by 5elsste)
At my college we did D2 last year also, i think the worst part about that is simplex method and maximum minimum flows. At least its at 9:00 so you have a rest. Anyhow good luck everybody! -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2
June 2011 Question 8bi) Please can someone explain, i understand it all apart from when they are solving radially, R= tangential force - component of mass..
How do they work out that the component of mass is mgsin@... I thought using trig it would be mg/(sin@)..
Any help will be great -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2oh no, I did decision in Jan :P(Original post by 5elsste)
So you have never had to do any Decision!
Is there a good way to tackle energy questions? -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2Same here(Original post by Iepnauy)
Retaking this exam from Jan
M3 on Friday, these are my last two exams
I'll be glad once this is over. M3 is much more straightforward than M2.
There's only 3 of us taking mechanics 3 on Friday from our school :P
But yeah, we all think that the mechanics 2 is harder :/ Good luck for both

I'm revising from the book + past papers I guess :/. I haven't gone through them yet. Got tonight, all of tomorrow and Thursday morning >=). Thankfully there's only 6 M3 papers on the AQA website.
What do you use for M3 revision? We didn't get give any textbooks for M3

Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2Humm - I have a book, but it's not great, it's mainly just questions rather than revision :P I could set up another thread for the massive number of people doing M3 xD which is basically us 2 on TSR :P I would reccomend checking out FMSP M3 Revision video, the link is the same as the one at the top of this thread, but the m3 version(Original post by Iepnauy)

In terms of M2 - I've done some revision today over the basics, and I'm going to start the past papers tomorrow
Mixed with M3 revision, Thursday night is for M3 papers :P

Re: [AQA] Mechanics 2 - 21 June 2012 - M2Just had a go at it, this is what I got :P(Original post by 5elsste)
What do people think of Jun 2011 question 8bi)??
-
M2 is mostly really easy, and but it's easy to get mindf***ed by the more complex circular motion and resolving moments/forces and hookes law questions. I've just been doing past papers as revision. 60+ marks is alright but haven't managed 70 yet.
