One reason why the US rejected her and us Brits somewhat adopted her
I quite like Blue Jeans but most of her music sounds a bit dirgy.

I bought her album recently, my favourite song is probably Lolita followed by Dark Paradise. Although I can understand why some people can't stand her.. her songs do become a bit repetitive. She doesn't seem to be that great when she's singing live either, but I liked her when she was in the Live Lounge.

Yeah, it's such a great song, I listen to it over and over. Most of my friends have only heard of Blue Jeans and Born to Die, but when I try to persuade them to listen to Lolita they normally can't be bothered because "she just sounds the same" .. which tbh I can't really argue with. I guess she's not for everyone, but I've fallen for her.

Yeah but I wish she'd release Lolita, shows a different side to her!

I really like her as a person, and her music. I find her lyrics to be really relatable, and I love it when I find that in an artist.

    Blue Jeans. Yes.
I'd never see her live because she sings awful but the recorded version of that song I could listen to forever.

Though I quite like some songs of hers I wouldn't ever see her live.

She's got a nice voice, but I personally find her a bit dull. I liked Video Games but since listening to her other stuff, I don't really see the appeal.

I don't think I like "Born To Die" as an album name much, as it sounds rather morbid (even though that said I do like the song Born To Die). She may as well have named the album National Anthem (which is also an awesome song), since most her songs, videos and photos are very American themed anyway

LOL at all the people never wanting to see her live. I saw her at Lovebox last week and she sang wonderfully there - y'all don't know what you're missing

I think she has some really good songs, and I love the idea of putting slow string ballads to heavy hip-hop beats. I don't think she intended it but a lot of her lyrics remind me of The Great Gatsby - pouring rain, cars, Hollywood, suicide and breakdowns..
When listening to the live performances it seems to me that her vocals on the album must have been auto-tuned a bit, which is disappointing. And I'm not sure how much of her is genuine personality-wise..
But on the whole, I like her music.

I wouldn't change the station on the radio if she came on but I'd never buy any of her music.
I only really would say 'yes' to an artist if they can sing live or possibly if their songs are insanely good.

They just a played a bit of her set on BBC 3. I think it would have been good if you were there in the crowd, but unfortunately her vocals were weak and the songs were a bit dead

There is just something hypnotic about her O_O I'm watching her now on the Hackney weekend thing.
But I do like that type of music so maybe I'm biased.

I loved her album, but every performance I've seen her do live she's just been so meh. She seems quite sweet and interesting though from interviews.

To listen to her I've gotta be in the mood, I only really do like Born to Die and Video Games though, the rest of her older songs they just don't work with me very well
