    HELP! choosing a level subjects
Okay so I'm in Year 10 and currently looking into A level choices..Ideally I'd like to study an IT related course at Uni and I've come up with a possible subject combination of ICT, Computing, Business Studies and Economics. However I've heard and read that Uni's don't favour this kind of subject combination, and that ICT and Business Studies are seen as 'soft' a levels.

Can anybody please shed some light on the whole soft/hard subject matter, what you think of this combination, and whether Uni's will actually prefer/dislike this kind of combination.

    thanks in advance

I would swap business/ computing for maths

that's a good way of getting round the whole soft/hard subject thing , unfortunately I'm realistically looking at getting a high B or low A at GCSE Maths and I doubt I'd be able to cope with a level maths without a monstrous amount of tuition, which I'm not really up for

You can't do computer science without A level maths.

try doing a science and/or a language XD
because you sound like you've got two sets of similar subjects there I think.

as in ICT and computing sound similar
and business and economics sound similar as well

I did physics, chem bio and spanish
and dropped physics (that was he best day of my life)

It generally depends on the university and course. For example if you apply for Oxford or Cambridge to study say Law, they will look at both your ucas points and the subjects you studied. In your case, say you apply for computer science at manchester, they may only look at your ucas points. Universitys have thousands of applicants to look through and dont have time to see if the person has 'soft a-levels' or not. Both my older brothers completed university, one attained a B & two C's the other 3 B's and they were softer a-levels. So dont worry too much, both i.t and business are relatively tough a-levels,
