Unlocking iPhone question
I know this seems like a really stupid question (well for me I feel silly asking it but I have to ask it anyway)
...can you brick your iPhone by getting it unlocked?
Situation: going on holiday to UK for 3n'a'half weeks. Buying a 'cheap' unlocked mobile here and buying a UK SIM card seems to be an expensive solution. And because of the exchange rate buying a 'cheap' unlocked or network locked phone + SIM card in the UK is equally as expensive. Unlocking the iPhone from my network carrier and buying a PAYG micro-SIM seems to be the better option.
It also saves me carrying two phones around and obviously the iPhone charges off USB so that saves having to carry so many chargers etc around with me.
Also can anyone recommend a good value PAYG SIM that I can just pick up from a shop like o2/3/vodafone/orange? I need good coverage, some data (about 1GB should do) and plenty of minutes + texts so I only have to top up once would be best!!

Can you get a giffgaff sim from anywhere or do you have to get it online? I need access to it straight away it's not a long trip - and I'll be moving around a lot!

It can be obtained in two ways, either ordered directly from the website or as a gift from an existing member (the "member get member" scheme). A card ordered from another member has an additional £5 airtime added when it is activated by the recipient and topped up with a minimum of £10.
