Wearing braces post-18 really isn't an issue, no one notices (including you) and you have to think of whether you're happy to spend time getting perfect teeth or whether you're happy with how they are now. It is your choice, but so many people have braces at different ages now that it's just not an issue.

omg it takes two long i am 16 now and i'll soon be turning 17 & i don't wanna be wearing braces over the age of 18+ i know it is good for me but i'll feel embarassed!

It took me a week between getting referred by my dentist and getting the braces on, but that's because I was about to turn 18 so they rushed it so I could get it done on the NHS! It's not that bad having them, I'd obviously rather have them off before uni but I guess it will be worth it for the end result! The worst thing is having bands though

Re: bracesI'm nearly 23 and have been wearing braces for almost 2 years now, by the time they come off I'll be almost 24 so I wouldn;t worry about the age thing(Original post by ockeisha)

Took me a few months to get the initial appointment, then almost a year between that and actually getting the braces on. I did change hospitals though so that may be why. -
