Is it better to do a subject you hate but find easy, or one you love and find hard
Discussion for A-Level students and for those choosing their A-Level subjects.

Never, ever do a subject you hate. You may find it 'easy' (since it's GCSE) but things change at A level. If you hate it, chances are you probably won't care much in lessons and not consolidate your knowledge. So you end up cramming before exams and you fail.

I'd also bear in mind that things you love and hate can change over time.
I didn't much like Chemistry at GCSE, but loved it at A-level, but then unfortunately had to drop it for A2.
Conversely, I loved Biology GCSE, AS was okay and unfortunately had to keep it on to A2.
If it's for A-levels I'd reccommend doing subjects you know you enjoy, though. Enjoying it = working harder and working harder = potentially higher grades. -

I guess it depends on the kind of person you are. If you love a subject but find it really hard, you might get so frustrated that you end up disliking the subject. Never take a subject you hate because you find it easy, but it's okay to take it for that reason as long as you have a reasonable interest in it... it doesn't have to be your favourite subject. Remember though that it might be totally different at a-level in terms of what you find hard.

Re: Is it better to do a subject you hate but find easy, or one you love and find harWhat is the ultimate goal? Will your plan be progressed by getting a good result in the subject to dislike? Then do it.(Original post by Procrastination)
I think I'm in the mind set of doing something I find easy (well get good grades in) and enjoy a little, but I always tell people to do what they enjoy.
What it your opinion.
At thia stage in life we are laying foundations, we might need to eat some doos if we want to arrive at our preferred destination.
But absolutely do not spend your life doing something you hate simply because you are good at it or because it pays well. Life is way to short for that although it will seem very, very long. -

It depends, I found Geography at GCSE relatively easy and enjoyable but ended up hating it at AS and dropped it. Whereas I found Maths really easy and decided to do it at A level for that reason, even though I had hated it, but I ended up enjoying it and will be doing it at uni next year. Although I have loved (and put most work in for) Photography AS this year and wish I did it in year 12 aswell. Just choose what you prefer or find reasonably alright, don't put yourself under excessive stress for whatever reason it may be.

Do subjects you enjoy, no matter how hard you find it. Chances are, cos you enjoy them you are more willing to put the effort in. I hated English Lit, but took it because I got good grades in it and was naturally talented at it. I hated it, never revised and barely turned up to lessons. Whilst I still managed to achieve an 'A' at A level, I was so unhappy because of it. I dreaded every lesson and would often skip - resulting in me constantly being nagged at or in trouble with college.
