    Mitigating circumstances
Right I work in a shop and a few weeks ago we had a violent incidence take place; should I inform my teachers to inform the exam board now or later?

    Should have informed them then.
They will just think your trying to make an excuse for you not doing so well in your exams so far and are trying any thing possible to push your marks up.
Give it a try though, you never know.

Why did you just think of it now?

    Re: Mitigating circumstances
To be honest, mitigating circumstances don't really do that much.

Last year, a girl in my year who was really well liked by everyone was murdered in her home, a month before exams started.

Exam boards and universities got told. I missed my offer by 5 UMS marks, and the university didn't let me in.

Saying a 'violent incident' happens a few weeks ago isn't going to do anything at all.

I agree that mitigating circumstances don't do much for you but I suppose it's worth a try. Yes, you probably should have mentioned it earlier, but you've got nothing to lose by telling them now. At the end of the day, all they can say is no anyway
