PEOPLEEE in the question where we were asked to find the percentage mass, if you used the given ratio - i think and so do many others their was a genuine mistake/error with the ratio given! I did the normal stuff (find the respective moles, multiply by 10) and still got a mass bigger than the original, like many others!

if it comes out that many of us just made a mistake then so be it, but if it is a genuine error in the paper it needs to be quickly addressed, it could potentially gain you more ums (this happened with my aqa AS geog skills paper last year, so im the voice of experience!)

can you post what you gonna send!!! so we can send it as well!!! and why not making a facebook page?
Just include that there was stuff which wasn't on the spec like the Co catalyst, and how it has no similarities to the past papers, and how some questions were unclear about what they were asking and then how there was just not enough time for the amount of work wanted! nahh i cba making a fb page, i jsut need to let them now that I was not impressed!!

For Co making a blue solution what reagent did you guys put? I said it would be ammonia, not excess, just ammonia. [Co(H2O)4(OH)2]2+ ... That compound.

However you could also make that compound out of using Hydroxide too. So just wondering what you lot put for that.
Also who saw the 4 marker at the end? How did you make the two equations for that and what was the worded answer for that one.

Btw does anyone have the paper that they could scan and put on here?

    Which reagents did you use?
with ecess ammonia it forms yellow-brown or straw colour if you like
with h202, it'll get oxidized to the brown solution.
with naco3, it'll go pink ppt.
with hcl, it'll go blue solution.
sorry i just got that wrong here, but i have got it right in the exams tho lol.
but overall it was hard so don't worry too much!

this, [Co(H2O)4(OH)2]2+.... does not exist. oh has charge of -1 each! so overall charge is zero since water is neutral, and you have to use excess and you get [Co(nh3)6]2+ which is yello/brown solution. the blue one is [cocl4]2-

Also, why is Phosphorous Pentoxide written as P4O10 and not P2O5?

Honestly didn't think this exam could have gone as bad as it did, I was looking forward to it! (everything was straight forward in the other past papers, they must hate our year!!!!)
There goes my choice for uni this year, stupid AQA

*also what was the solution that turned blue with Co? Could not remember in the exam!

where could we get more UMS? just for that question or more overall as it's their fault?

LOL i meant that compound without the 2+ i put that charge in by mistake. But yea i got yellow solution is with excess ammonia. But thats not to get it brown. That requires oxidation. i just said with O2 because i couldn't think of something at the time. That should be fine though? because O2 would be like leaving it exposed to air anyway.

anyone think they've lost their chance of med school.
    I do.
Medicines just a thing of the past for me after that exam.
Walked out of it and headed straight towards my Head of Sixth's office to talk about resitting the year.

    Feel LIVID

Think iv lost about 20 Marks coz I just didn't know what to do and that's not including silly mistakes, or the ones I didn't have time to go back and look at.

WHAT IS LIFE?! really tho? :'(

yh i think air or oxygen should be fine. but the proper reagent is h202!

I stupidly wrote oxygen/air instead of h2o2 cause I was running out of time and didn't think properly -_-

    I put oxygen for the when it gets oxidised;
    4(co (NH3)6 )2+ plus 02 plus 2H2O >>>>4(co (NH3)6 )3+plus 4OH- ?

it should be fine! air or oxygen would do i think, in the past paper they accepted all those as long you got the right balanced equasions!

That was such ball breaker. I really hate whining about exams but that was hard! I'm definitely not the best at chemistry, and I'm only looking for a B overall, but section b was really tough (apart from the 12 marker hehe).

The grade boundaries probably won't change that much and there is no use crying to the exam board, what are they going to do?? it sucks but lifes not fair, they will just scale the marks accordingly and you have to take the s**t sandwich, munch it down and and smile :P

But still section b was pretty ridiculous, I would like to see the right answers as I'm pretty much oblivious even after looking through my revision guide!
